Handi-mate jr. manual

I purchased a Kenmore vacuum cleaner model 35992, and the instruction manual said on page 6 that there is a Handi-Mate Jr. Owner's Manual. I don't have the manual. Can you help?

I scanned my manual, but I can't fund any way to attach it here. I can send it to you if you provide your email address.

Check and see if it's plugged in some place. That is a common happening.

Owners manual for kenmore power-mate # 116

Greetings from GoVacuum,

I wasn't able to find the manual for the Kenmore model, however I did find the instruction manual for the corresponding Panasonic canister vacuum cleaner. Your particular Kenmore model is actually made by Panasonic for Sears, and then Sears puts the Kenmore name on the vacuum cleaner. They are identical internally, and have the same parts and components, besides the filter that is behind the bag. Sears makes Panasonic put a specially designed filter in the Kenmore's so that the customer has to go back and purchase that filter from Sears.

To download the instruction manual, please visit the link below;

You can also find a parts schematic of the power head below if you need to purchase parts;

I have a kenmore progressive direct drive handi mate jr. upright vacuum. My daughter used it last night to vacuum up some cat litter that had spilled on the floor. I went to use it today and it turned on...

its probably clogged up with cat litter.might have gotten into the motor.your motor has a motor guard inside if it. when it overheats it will shut down till it cools off.you need to clean all th cat liter out of it.and clean the filters.with a direct drive you might want to take it in to a repairman to sevice. its not a shop vac i advise you not to pick up things like cat liter

My handi-mate Jr. is not spinning anymore. What should I do to fix it?

Assuming you don't have a broken belt, you can pretty much completely disassemble the Handimate and clean it out, which should fix "it won't spin any more." Part of the cleaning procedure is pretty obvious - there are tabs on the side that hold the top onto the bottom. Just lift the side flaps on the top section that surround the tabs to release the top section. Pay attention to how the thing is put together so you can reassemble it - there aren't many parts - it's not rocket science. Now the part that's not obvious: it's not too hard to pull the axle out of the cylinder to which the brushes are attached. Gunk, hair and fibers can get caught under the white end caps and around the axle.

Kenmore Model 116 PowerMate Jr stopped working

If the roller brush is not spinning freely once you remove it from the Power Mate Jr., then I have discovered the solution! There are end caps at each end of the roller brush. They seem to be permanently attached, but they are not. There is an axle inside the roller that is permanently attached to one of the caps. Take two pairs of pliers, and grab each end cap with a pair of pliers. Then pull hard to take them off. Once they are off, you will find that there is a big glob of hair wrapped around the axle inside. Remove the hair. Then reassemble the brush by putting the end caps back on. Make sure, when you put the caps back, that they are aligned so that they will fit back into the slots on the Power Mate Jr. You have to push hard to get the caps back on, maybe tapping one of them with pliers.

Did you push the reset? Check where the plug from the power head goes into the end of the handle. Sometmes the female plug gets pushed in to far, then the male part can't plug in and you will have no power to the power head. If this is the case, the the tabs on the tube inside the handle broke off and allowed the female plug to be pushed inside the handle. The other is the switch in the handle is bad, motor could also be bad. If you go to sears.com, click on the parts link, put in your complete model number and you will get a parts list and picture breakdown to look at and you can order parts here also.
