Kids john deere gator shifter won't go into reverse

do you mean the shifter physically won't move into those positions, or once its in those positions it doesn't engage the motors

either a bad shifter switch or a bad motor, do both of the wheels spin in reverse?

the peg perego gators have two switches in the shifter that need replaced.
I have replaced them before on my grandkid's gator.

If it is new, contact Peg Perego for a replacement. If it is not new, you can upgrade the shifter to a better version. (I just upgraded the one on my kids' gator.) You can buy the upgraded shifter for $24. http://tigerimports.net/sunshop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=7095

I would replace the high/low switch and the reverse switch. One time a replaced the high/low switch and the reverse switch quit on me 2 weeks later.
You can also get the Peg Perego Gator Shifter that upgrades the vehicle.

If you have a clicking problem, I would check the wiring on the foot pedal. something is not connected right, which is making the fuse click.
