Hi Dawn,
I'll ask the obvious question, Does the engine start and run every Thursday at 2:30pm (more or less) or not?

What I see in the field is that people notice the TOD clock on the timer is incorrect due to DST changeover and make a boo-boo while trying to correct it. You seem to have the right idea above so it's better to observe and see if the thing operates like we want rather than fix what might not be broken :-)

Generally speaking...
Generators have 3 switch positions, Off, Auto, and Manual. I think that's the switch on the left side of the panel you mention.

Timers have a Program, Run, and sometimes Override mode of operation. This would be that switch on the right side of the panel above. When in the "Run" mode almost all timers display the current Time Of Day somewhere, many blink the colons in the display to indicate that something is happening.

Let me know if you need further help,
Carl

The auto mode isn't working on my zilla digital 24-7 power center, when on auto mode no lights come on?

Copy following link to identify timer:
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#zilla
Is this a new timer??? Or old timer that stopped working?
Replace battery.
Press reset button to clear all memory traces before programming.
Check programming for overlaps and mismatched day(s) of operation.
Test outlet for correct polarity and grounding using circuit analyzer.
Make sure light bulb is turned ON. Timers do not reach out and rotate on-off switch.
Make sure outlet has at least 80% rated voltage shown on load label. For example 115 volts x 80% = 92 volts

About your specific programming needs:
Zilla selects 12 o'clock as changeover time between am-pm.
So if you want 8:02 to 7:59 operation, then that is under the 12 hours, but it crosses the 12 o'clock am-pm changeover.
Workaround: Shorten your times to less than 12 hours just like you have done.
But set current time differently so 8-8 falls under either am or pm, but does not cross am-pm. The timer does not actually know what the current time is, so simply fudge by amount needed.

Do I set the GE timer # 15089 to Auto on or Auto off for it to be activated. I had it on Auto on however the light stayed on all the time.

I don't have repair for defective timer.
Open following link to identify timer and download manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15089

Timer should be set to Auto ON for timer programs to run.
Auto OFF is temporary override, and timer resumes schedule at next set point.
ON is always ON
OFF is always OFF

If timer is not operating as expected:
Test outlet for correct polarity and electrical problems using cheap circuit analyzer from hardware store.
Timer programs can have conflicts. Make schedule before setting timer so there are no overlaps that cause timer not to function as expected.
Current time has not been set. Set current time including current day.
Set button has been accidentally pushed, and a number or CTD appear in display.
Timer needs to be reset to clear conflicting programming or error. Push reset button with paperclip and try programming again.
Timer is not able to handle intended load. All timers work for incandescent bulb. Connect timer to incandescent lamp and see if problem continues.
Timer is defective. Buy another timer from Home Depot and return defect in new package.

How do we clear out the timer settings

Timer is not identified.
Open following link to identify timer and download manual.
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#zilla

1) If you have zilla digital power strip, there is no reset button.
It appears you can reset timer by removing small battery located on back of timer.
Battery serves as a back-up for timer settings, and display will not show without battery.
Most battery-operated timers that do not have reset button are reset by removing battery.

Some battery operated timers retain programming forever even if battery is removed for months, and then programming is still there when new battery is installed. However this type of timer has a reset button, but zilla does not.

2) A second way to clear programming is to press PRG button to review each program, and set each program to another time. I don't know if this will work since you can't 'zero' out the settings.

Lights come on but don't stay on even though the tabs are set for it to stay on say from 4-12 it will go off at 7:30. Someone got thier hands on this before i did---could the tabs have been broken if...

GM40 is commercial-grade electronic time piece with FM1 analog timer dial.
I bought a used GM40 once and the electronics were bad, so if this is a used timer, it might not function as expected.

I don't think the tabs/pins are broken. FM1 timer module is heavy duty.
Turning the dial clockwise does not damage timer. That's how you set current time and test timer.
Rotating dial counterclockwise is not possible without breaking the timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-set-timers.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Intermatic-Grasslin-gm40.pdf

FM1 analog timer module can be replaced if timer stopped working.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-trippers-and-parts.html#FM1

If certain pins/tabs are broken, you might be able to work around problem by offsetting current time by 6 hours or 12 hours. Or you can move wires from NO to NC terminals and see if the relays are causing a problem.

To set FM1 timer, the pins are pushed outward or inward.
For example to turn on Load for 1 hour, then 4 consecutive pins are moved.
To turn on Load for 3 hours, then 12 consecutive pins are moved.
To test if pins need to be inward or outward, set some pins and then manually rotate timer dial clockwise and watch when the Load turns on-off.

I need to know more about "Countdown - Auto -

Open following link to identify timer
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59377

59377 manual
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Woods-59377.pdf

Auto: timer must be set in AUTO for programming to work
The word AUTO is printed on timer face.
Small black triangle will display above the word AUTO when timer is in AUTO

Countdown is feature that lets you set timer ON for set amount of time, and when time expires, timer turns OFF.

Manual button.
I have not tested this specific timer.
Simply plug lamp into timer, and then push manual button to explore feature.
Watch what symbols display, and watch what lamp does.

GE 15119 instructions please. The dial just says "time now." How do you know when light go on and off? Need directions. Can't believe there are none!

Here the help you need to set timer.

Rotate dial until current time lines up with black triangle located in center of dial
The black pointer remains stationary when you rotate outer dial
Now the outer edge of dial has 48 plastic segments that lift up

776e6ad.jpgHere are some segments lifted up on GE15207 timer

As I recall, segments-up timer OFF, segments-down timer ON
