I cant connect to 192.168.1.1 using my comtrend CT-5372 router

Check that is the actual address in use. They might have set up something else. In a DOS (cmd.exe) window use 'ipconfig' to see what the gateway address is. Use ping 192.168.1.1 to see if it is really there.

If you want password protection, you have to manage the router yourself. Download the manual and use the 'reset' button to take ownership of the router.

Tryuing to conect a computer to my internet

LOL, how did you forget the security key? OK, lets pray for a little luck here. On some wireless routers and some modems that contain wireless capability the security key will be either on the side or bottom of them on a label. It is called the Network Security Key or Network Password. This is especially true if you have AT&T as your provider. If you have a wireless router that you purchased from a store such as Netgear, Dlink, Belkin, etc. then you will need to use a Network Cable to plug the wireless router into the computer ( it may already be plugged up if you have a desktop computer). On the computer with the network cable coming from the router plugged into it you will open up internet explorer and in the address bar you will type in the ip address of the router. For example the ip address for netgear might be 192.168.1.1 so you would put that in address bar where you normally type www to get to webpages. If you have access to a computer that is already connected to the internet just get on it and go to www.google.com and in the search type for example "netgear wireless router ip address". you'll find the ip address, or you can go to your router manufacturer's site to find the ip address. You 'll also need the userid and password to get into the router, so make sure you google that or get it from the manufacturer's site. Most times the router might be set to the default user id and password. Let's hope that's the case otherwise you'll need to get it from whoever set up your router. Once you're in the router, go to the wireless settings and look for the password. It might be under wireless security or it might just be under wireless. That's all there is to it.

I know it seems like a lot, but it's quite simple. The only thing that might throw you off is if whoever set up your wireless also changed the default userid and password to get into the router. Don't fret you can get around it by clicking the little button on the back of the router with an ink pen and hold it for about 30 seconds. This will reset the router to the factory settings including the password. You'll have to go back into it and turn on the wireless and set a password if you want one to secure it. Also if your internet connection is a PPOE Connection which is what phone companies use such as AT&T then you will have to put in your Network or Internet Userid and Password. Most folks don't know that because they think the only userid and password they have is their email userid and password from the phone company. NOT TRUE.... You'll need the Internet Password or you'll never reach the internet. In fact you might spend time talking on the phone to a customer service rep to get it all set back up. And they won't help you with the router because the don't deal with anything that's not their product. So in short HIT THE RESET ON THE BACK OF THE ROUTER AS A VERY LAST RESORT.

Media streamer internet connection problems

This happened to me last night. I took my streamer to a friends house, but when i came back it was recognizing my SSID but not accepting my password. I don't know exactly what happened but i tried unhiding my SSID and redoing my password, but it still wouldn't work. ultimately I renamed my SSID, Password, and PSK. Then on my streamer I found my router through WPS. I just added the router PIN and it connected and brought everything up. Re- entered my password and was good to go.

Someone is logging into my computera and is using my internet connection for their wireless I want to change my web key address so that cannot occur again please tell me how

This is very simple. Go to http://192.168.0.1 and login using "admin" for the username and "motorola" for the password (both without quotation marks). From there you'll see a column of buttons on the left-- click on "wireless". In that new page you'll see a row above the main content with 4 tabs-- click "security". Now you'll see an area that says "security mode". I would recommend using WPA because it is the most secure. You'll choose what you want the password to be in the field that says "Passphrase", and then press "Apply". You'll notice you aren't connected to the internet anymore (if using wifi) because you'll need to reconnect and put the new password in. That should do it, but let me know if you have anymore questions!

How do you connect my Dsi to the internet?

Hello -

1) Start up the DSi and select 'System Settings'
2) Go to the third page, and select 'Internet'
3) Choose 'Connection Settings'
4) Click 'None' under "Connection 1"
5) Click 'Search for an Access Point'
6) The DSi will search for any networks in the area
7) This will discover your wireless network, and if it it password protected you will put in your network password. If the network is unprotected, you can just select the network.

If there's any problems, please let me know.

Thanks!

I have my laptop acer 5715Z but i cannot find my password for internet it keeps saying unable to connect the network.what is the problem of it and how I will find the password of my internet?thanks

Hello and welcome to FixYa;

Your problem isn't in your computer if you are getting a request for a password for internet. It is within your router itself.

If you are looking for the password to your 'internet' when trying to log on; you need to reset your router and get rid of the encryption; or enter the right password when it prompts you too.

Routers are really easy to reset within your home to get rid of the encryption if you forgot what you put for the password.

However; routers are different to reset; depending on the type and model of your router;

You need to send in the question how to reset your router with the name brand and model of it to wipe out the password, and set a new one.

I can answer what your problem is in this question; but cannot solve your router problem without that info.

I have a 2Wire Gateway that I'm trying to attached a WN604-100NAS to extend the range. I am getting good signal to the Access point but can't access the internet. It's asking for user,...

It's probably the user name and password of the gateway (might be printed on the router) and the IP address of the gateway like 192.168.0.1 which might also be printed on the gateway.

2. Access the router's GUI by typing 'http://192.168.1.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar.
3. When prompted for Username and Password, please enter 'admin' for the Username and 'password' for Password.
4. Click on Wireless Settings (under Setup) from the left menu.
5. Select security options as WPA-PSK. Enter a Password in the passphrase box. Apply the settings.

The above steps would enable password on your wireless network. Please revert for any further clarification.
