Charging system not working

There isn't one. The alternator is a generator of electricity, not a user or power.

You need to have your alternator checked. It charges your battery while the car is running. Your battery light comes on when the battery is low on power. You alternator may be weak or not working at all. I would have it tested.

How do you know if your alternator is bad ??

It means the charging system isn't working. Have the alternator and battery checked ASAP.

check the starter check the fuel psi check the battery and charging system

Try resetting the alternator, if that doesn't work try changing the battery

Well if charging system has failed it sounds like your battery is to low to turn over the starter motor. Give the battery a charge over night then have the system checked for a bad alternator.

is it clicking as you try to start it? if it does do the basics have your local paerts store checkthe batt and charging system its free\Auto Zone --ect the draw test will determine if your starter is bad or good high draw is bad charging should be 14.3 to 14.6 volts hope this helps Merry Christmas Lee

1st thing would be to check battery

Have your battery charged and load tested to make sure it's OK. Then check the charging system and alternator drive belt for tension and condition. If car won't staqrt after charge, you may need to remove alternator to have it tested on a bench. Otherwise, put a volt meter across both terminals. With engine off, volts should be 12 or higher. Running should be 13,5-14V running with all lights, heater and A?C on should not drop lower than 12.8v.Low readings running indicate a bad alternator. If everything in charging system checks out OK, problem is likely in the starter or starter relay.
