How to test Balboa heater

We moved the spa, rewired and started, pump ran, heat light on, in the morning nothing, sounds like GFI breaker is tripping and K3 clicks, removed left hand heater copper connected GFI stays energized. RH heater stud corroded. Removed heater tube, how can I test to make sure it is the heating element? 5.5KW 15" 2x2" M7 w/stud

SOURCE: Colman Spa trips GFI what is most common problem?

this should be simple ...
1.shut off the power
2.disconnect wires to heating element
3. turn power back on and see if it works if so replace heating element 45-95 dollars

if it still trips unplug all the cables from the pumps blower ozonators and see if it runs now,,,, if so plug each cable back (one at a time) until it trips again.if it trips that the problem pump etc.

99 percent of the the time its not the gfi its a device that is wet or shorted out ..Try everything else before replacing the gfi

Our balboa spa just stopped running out of the blue while we were using it...it tripped the gfi. GFI is good any suggestions?

GFI tripping is caused by an excess of electrical current between the device and the ground connection. The heater and pump should be on separate GFI circuits. Check to see which device is causing the fault and have it repaired or replaced.

My hot tub works for about 20 mins and clicks the GFI off. Then I reset the GFI and the spa comes on for about 7 mns and trips the GFI again. Is this my heater doing this?

Easy way to test for the heater issue is to disconnect the heater from the board. Disconnect both leads from board and let the spa call for heat. There is also a chance the GFI breaker is bad however most times the heater fails and the breaker is doing its job.

As with allelectrical components and devices, all work should be performed by a licensedspa or pool technician. Serious injury or death can occur if a component isimproperly repaired or installed. This islikely an issue with the GFCI breaker not being able to handle the load or aproblem with the high speed of the pump.

We have a 2004 Balboa series spa and the breaker keeps tripping what could cause this? Everything has been working fine.

Understand that this information is beingprovided as-is and without warranty or guarantee. As with all electricalcomponents and devices, all work should be performed by a licensed spa or pooltechnician. Serious injury or death can occur if a component is improperlyrepaired or installed.

There are several reasons the breaker can trip. It could bea bad pump, bad heater, GFCI or wiring issue.... Typically unplugging eachcomponent will help isolate which component is causing the trip. It is rare fora board to cause a breaker trip, so if all components (including both legs ofthe heater) are disconnected and the breaker continues to trip then you move onto wiring or the GFCI.

Spa keeps tripping breaker. Not GFI. Ran for 2 years then problem started. Replaced breaker. Where to look next?

Sounds like wiring problem, rule out GFI sometimes they just go bad or have your wiring checked in that run something is not hooked up correctly or loose. Make sure this circuit it is not shared with anything else. If not ran for 2 years could be wiring problem in spa get it checked out be safe, water and electric bad news if your not familiar with or comfortable with electrical issues. Good luck!
