I've been getting my oil changes at places other than a Toyota dealership. My ''Maintenance Required'' light comes on and I want to know how to turn it off.

2006 Toyota Corolla le - maintenance light on front panel - engine serviced with oil and air filter changed two months ago. All liquids fine, car working well...what might it be??

  • That light is an indicator that the required miles have been drove and it's time to do an oil change. The light should be reset after every oil change as the computer keeps track of the miles to warn you when it's time again should you forget.

  • If you want to turn the light off then follow these steps.

  • Push and hold the trip button and then turn the ignition to on while holding the trip reset button. Keep holding for 10 seconds and the maintenance required light will go offf.

I have 2006 Toyota Crolla since three days the maint reqd light is on could you please advise me on this ? best regards Sultan from Afghanistan

The maintenance required light just means that some sort of scheduled maintenance needs to be done. Most of the time it just means you need an oil/filter change. Your owner's manual will list what maintenance is required based on your milage. This light is not the same as the Check Engine light which means that something is wrong with the emissions system.

Maintenance reqd indication light is still showing on the dashboard after have changed the oil filter and oil. What is the problem? My car is 2008 Toyota Avalon.

Set the display window to ODO.
Turn the ignition switch off.
While pressing the reset switch, turn the ignition switch on(IG). Keep pressing the reset switch for at least 5 seconds to complete reset procedure.

*IF this does not work you have be confused with the warning light, it may not be the oil life, but check engine light, refer to owners manual for clarity.

The maintenance light is on in my 2006 Toyota Corolla. Could this be a fluid level/filter thing? It just had an oil change a month ago, so that shouldn't be it (unless there is a leak?). The car recently...

The maintenance light coming on indicates that the car's computer has an error code for you to deal with. There are dozens of error codes so the only way to know is to have the computer scanned. That said, AAMCO repair shops now scan for free as do some auto parts stores. Call around for a free scan or go to a dealership where they charge. If you do choose the dealership ask up front what the scan fee is and try to negotiate it lower. Joe

4 thumbs up please. ty.

Maintenance Required Soon light came on. What does this mean? I just had my vehicle taken in for an oil change last week and everything was in great condition.

"Maintenance Required" is an automatic indicator which runs on your mileage. Once serviced the counters need to be reset. It could be that when you had the oil change the service centre did not reset the computer (they forgot, ps. this is not somethuing you can DIY) or you did not take it to a Toyota service centre, in which case they did not have the electronic gadget needed to do the reset. Get it back to Toyota or at least someone who can do the reset.

How can the maintenance required light be reset following an oil change?

Here's how you reset your oil maintenance light.

To reset the light,
Turn the ignition on
Make sure the odometer displays "ODO"
1.Turn the key off
2.Press and hold down the same button you use to get to "ODO"
3.Turn the key back to ON ( while still holding down the button)
4.Hold the button in until all the flashing lines on the odometer go away and the bunch of "000000" shows up and the maint reset light will turn off.
Your'e done.

If this doesn't work, you would have to try it on "trip A" instead of "ODO".

What are lubrication requirements for 2008 Toyota Avalon XLS?

Your Avalon uses 5-30 oil, 6qt with filter. Trans is Toyota's WS(world standard) ATF(there is no dipstick) There are no grease fittings on the car.
All the maintenance schedules are listed in the owners manual per mileage.

Dashboard shows a yellow light i asked about it from a mechanic he said u hav to change brake leathers

Can you explain the light? Does it say chack engine? Maint? If it says MAINT you need to get your oil changed. If you dont go to the dealership to change your oil, they dont reset the timer for the MAINTenance light and it comes on anyway. Get a better mechanic, and get your light reset. Or I can teach you how to reset it, just let me know.
