I have a 2001 pontiac sunfire. 3 days ago, i decided to recharge the ac for the first since i've owned the car, and the ac worked fine (except it wasn't exactly cold). So, the next day, i added more freon, and the compressor kicked on and the air was cold and worked amazingly. Today, i turned the ac on, and the compressor wont kick on. I've checked fuses and everything. Any advice?

It would seem that you have overfilled the freon level.

SOURCE: Ac compressor won't kick on

Just had the same issue and posted. Just found the solution is the control module in the dash. Went to the junk yard since new is expensive on these units. Plugged new unit in, was able to charge a/c now blows cold as ice.

SOURCE: 97 Olds Aurora AC blowing warm air a day after recharging system

Several- The system should hold freon for years without leaking. There are pressure switches and they cut off the compressor with an undercharge and an overcharge. You need guages to measure the charge. There are testers the A/C shops have called "sniffers" which can detect a leak. If you have no leak then you need a technician to add or remove freon to get the concentration right. Or you need guages.

SOURCE: air compressor not engage was blowing cold just

the clutch on the air compressor coil is proably burnt out. disconnect electrical plug at end of air compressor and supply current direct from battery to see if clutch engages, if it does not, change thecoil clutch switch.

All my lights work except my gear shift console letters.

If your dash lights are working, then you probably just have a burned out light bulb.

You all really need to get more specific. You've just got a situation here, no question.
The fuel filter is integrated into the fuel pump, inside the fuel tank.

Alternator?

Before deciding to change the alternator, have the battery recharged and load tested. If it's good, then check the alternator for proper output and drivebelt for any slippage. Check back if you need any more info along the way
Good luck!
