No suction from base or hose attachment

Instead of suctioning in, there is air blowing OUT through the front Hepa air filter on the front of vacuum. Also the beater brush/bar on the bottom rotates while lifted in the air, but stops rotating when lowered to the floor or carpet. Nothing blocking hoses. Can anyone help?

Hi,
I had the same problem with my Eureka vacuum cleaner. I don't have the problem with the beater bar, but I had the problem with the attachment hose not getting any suction. I found out that I was putting attachment on the wrong end of the hose. The end that you use in the front. Don't how I got that confused because it always worked before. Hope this helps with the hose part of the problem.

Glen

My Sonic Clean vacuum has no suction?

They make a few models in upright and floor compacts. You have a blockage somewhere. When something is obstructing the flow, the motor is still trying to suck air. It has to go somewhere, so it blows instead. The blockage could be anywhere, but you mention brush rolls, so on an upright, remove the base plate and the brush and check the hole behind it. In a vacuum with a hose, check the hose itself and the motorized brush head, the same hole behind the brush.

If your vacuum's suction power has decrease with use, this is because 1) the filter bag needs to be changed and/or 2) the vacuum has a clog in the suction path. For clog removal instructions, please reference page 10 of your vacuum's user manual.

Have lost suction on my shark rocket HV321 what do I check

1. A common place where loss of suction can happen is on the floor nozzle hose. At the base of the vacuum cleaner is a short hose about 6".
The hose will tear where it bends back and forth. You can find a replacement hose but to install it is difficult.

2. On the neck of the handle is a suction release window (valve). It is used to reduce suction power to vacuum curtains or clothes etc. The valve will often turn on accident and stay open reducing suction power. When the valve is opened, pushing and pulling the sweeper is easier.

3. The filters maybe dirty and clogged. Check ALL the filters. Some Sharks have 3 filters including HEPA. Shark HEPA filter are made of fiberglass therefore can be washed with the others.

4. Check for clogs anywhere dirt can travel until it reaches the dirt cup.

Motor blows - no suction - no hoses blocked - air is coming out of hepa filter hole - where is the air coming in?

If you turn the suction valve to tools and block the hose you should have no air coming out of the filter. If you do it may be a bad diverter valve. Another possibility is a leak in the system. You can also do the same thing with the hose inside the rug nozzle. If they were both sealed off that would confirm an internal leak.such as a motor gasket failure.

Suction when vacuuming

Some vacuums have a valve or collar near the handle that you can twist to adjust the amount of suction on the vacuum. If you open it a little it will stop sucking up your throw rugs. IF the problem is not enough vacuum then the HEPA filter may be clogged. It's usually a rectangular filter in a plastic frame. That has to be changed occasionally or the suction of the vacuum will continue to drop off.

I have a Eureka Contour model 2900 type A upright vacuum, the roller works fine nothing clogged, took it apart motor blade is free of debris, no suction from tube and blasts OUT air from the front HEPA...

Even with your explanation,it seems the hose is clogged.Try taking the hose off, then blow through it or pour water through it.If this doesn't do it,make sure the suction canals are going to the proper areas.

There is no suction from the bottom base where the roller brush are, but theres a lot of suction from the hose.

Check between the brush and the hose connection. It sounds like there's a blockage there. It can easily be pushed toward the brush using a wooden spoon handle, or similar blunt object.

this is caused by a dirty air filter and/or a blocked vacume hose ( most of the time the blockage is at the bend where the hose enters the floor sweeper area ) ---
remove and tap out and brush the filter ( or use a air compressor to blow out filter ).
then with the vacume on its side - remove the bottom plate ( like you were going to change the belt ) and use a coat hanger and clean out the hose between the floor sweeper and where the suction hoes attaches. this will restore your vacume to full operation.

Thehose has no suction

remove and clean the filter. you can use a air compressor to blow it out or use a brass wire brush and tap the filter on the table until it looks nice and clean,, this will return the suction to your vacume. also at the same time as you are cleaning the filter, check the hose for any blockage ( especially down by the floor sweeper where the hose kinda bends down into the unit ) -- when a filter is dirty and the suction is not that great, dirt loves to collect and compact in this spot,, use a wire coat hanger to fish out and clean any debris.

No you have a clog in the hose, wand or at the power head. Remove the hose wand and power head from the the vacuum. Turn on the vacuum, put the palm of your hand over the hole in front, you should feel plunty of suction. Then replace just the hose and put the palm of your hand over the end of the hose. If you do not have suction the clog is in the hose. You can try putting the hose on the blower port to blow out the clog or use the wire from a coat hanger. If you have suction, then add just the wand and repeat. If you have suction, then the clog is in the neck of power head, you will have to use a coat hanger to clear it.

Progressive with Direct Drive not picking up

check and see if your brush roller is turning.remove the hose and see if you have suction.if not then you have something stuck in the suction intake. after removing the hose turn it on and put your hand over the hole wher the hose was connected to the base.if there is suction there then you have a blockage in your hose.if thats the case take the hose completely off the vacuum and take it outside and blow it out with a garden hose.if the blockage is in the intake then get a coat hanger and bend the tip so it is round, then work it down into the hole where the hose was connected to the base.you should be able to push push out the clog through the bottom.also clean all the filters real good.you can also take the filters out and then turn it on if you have suction then ,then its the filters
