Check to make sure that the poilet lite flame is touching the tip or top of the thermocouple.
the pilot lite needs to heat up the thermocouple so that the thermocouple opens the gas to the main gas log. a cold thermocouple shuts off the gas to the main gas log or gas burner and a hot thermocouple opens the gas to the main burner.
the pilot lite flame must be touching the thermocouple to heat it up.
pilot lite orface needs to be clear to let the pilot flame gas through with enough pressure so that the little flame can reach & touch the thermocouple. Pilot lite gas feed tube must be clear to let gas through. Use compressed air or a fine sewing needle, or even carb cleaner to clear out orface hole and gas feed line to pilot lite.

important!! WARNING:
if you use carb cleaner, make sure all the carb cleaner is dry, soaked up with paper towell or kleanex tissue and blowed out with compressed air , because carb cleaner can burn just like gasoline; so any carb cleaner must be compleatly gone before you attempt to lite the pilot lite.

1st time this happened to me the filter wasn't clean. 2nd time it was the pressure switch and for the third time they say I have to bleed the gas line, not enough gas to lite. And I also need the on/off switch gone bad.

I light the piuolot button and when i let go of the pilot button the pilot goes out does not light burner wont stay lit

When you light the pilot lite you have to hold the button down until it gets the element hot enough to stay lit. If you hold down the button and lite the pilot and let it go right away it will go out. What to do is hold down the button and lite the pilot and continue to hold the buttn down for about 45 seconds to a minute then let it up very slowly and you will see if it is going to go out by the flame getting smaller as you let up on the button. If it does start to get smaller conitnue to hold it again for a few seconds and repeat the process of letting it up slowly. when the control element gets to the right temperature it will stay lit then turn your valve to "ON" and the fire will start up and continue to heat the water.

The heat wont turn on and pilot does not stay lit

If this is a M/V heater you must have at least 400mv/dc to hold the pilot valve open. Check to make sure that the pilot is lighting, then hold the pilot valve down for about a minute. If the the pilot goes out you need to see what the m/v reading is. Chances are you have a bad pilot or gen. Replace.

My living room gas heater will not stayb lit

Try replacing the thermo coupler. There should be a little bulb shaped part(like a pencil eraser) that the pilot light heats up .The other end screw into the gas valve. If this is going bad or has gone bad the pilot light will not stay lit. Most of these are under$10.Well good luck and try to stay warm.

Pilot lights but main burner dose not light when turned on

possibly a fowled thermocouple if the thermocouple doesn's sense the pilot flame then it will not send a signal to the gas valve telling it that its okay to open cause the pilot is lit.

Gas furnace wont stay lite

I'm a little confused by your terminology. You are saying you have a pilot lite and electric heat strips? Are you possibly meaning burners? Is the heater running for 2 hours straight without shutting off? how cold is it there? Lastly what temperature do you have the thermostat set at and how close does it get to the temp. before it shuts off?
