    thanks, I'll look at that

  • jvbatman Mar 19, 2009

i have located the part, is there a way to test it or inspect it to see if it is bad?

  • jvbatman Mar 19, 2009

thanks. last question. the voltage is there so it appears to be the ignitor. But, i do measure ~200 ohms on the ignitor wires. On the ignitor surface , it is an open circuit. Is that the sure sign? or is the thermostat a possibility?

Not a sensor, but more likely a bad oven ignitor(glow bar) its located under the ovne floor and mounted to the side ofthe bake bar. simple emough to unscrew and unplug, replacethepart yourself

you can physically look for a burn on it, but no talways apparent, you can check for 110volts where the ignitor plugs into, unplug ignitor, place meter leads into the connection and start teh iven if you get 110v to the connector then you have a bad ignitor

umm should be a measured resistance within the ignitor although not really sureas to what OHM's it should read. and as far as a thermostat, these new units ( new meaning within the past 15 yrs.) use a thermistor, instead of thermostats, and as longas we get power to the ignitor, itshould light, the thermistors monitor temps and usually when they go bad htey read "f 3" codes in the display assy. Id feel confident replacing the ignitor

I have an Amana stove model ART4002W. The oven will not heat above 250 degrees and the broiler element will not turn on. I replaced the broiler element and the heat sensor. No change.

if you have it on broil and the element doesn't heat up and you changed the element then you either have a loose or broken wire or a bad clock assy. part number 74009213 and it's around 166 dollars

Stove top and broiler work Oven won't heat

the way to check this is to first see if ignitor comes on or put an amp clamp meter on it. the ignitor needs to draw 2.8 amps or more to engage the gas valve. if it doesnt lite or draw any amps at all. check voltage to bake ignitor. it will be the ignitor most likely. but the gas valve or control could be bad.

Amana oven does not work.

the most likly problem is the bake ignitor is bad. this is a common part to fail in gas ovens. the bake ignitor part number for your model is 31940001, and price ranges from $45-$75. a bad clock can also cause this issue, but I would start with the ignitor. let me know if you have further questions. shane

Amana gas range will not heat in "bake" mode.

Find the bake ignitor (you may need to remove bottom drawer or oven cavity floor to get to the ignitor). Turn on the bake. If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. If the ignitor is a round style - amperage should be 2.5-3A, if the ignitor is rectangular - 3 - 3.6A. If less than 2.5A or 3A respectively - replace ignitor. If the ignitor does not come on - check the voltage on the ignitor, should be the line voltage 110-120v AC. If there is a line voltage on the ignitor and it's not coming on - replace.
Ignitor part numbers for round style ones: 4342528, WB2X9154, SGR403, 5304401265;
rectangular styles: 12400035, WB13K21, WB2X9998, SGR412, NR020, 5303935066, 814269, 9753108.
Ignitors of the same shape (i.e. rectangular) are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires.

Good luck!

Amana arg7800ww oven will not come up to temperature.

Your gas valve has a thermocouple circuit that will not let gas flow until the ignitor is hot enough. A failed ignitor can still glow but not be hot enough to open the gas valve. Replace your ignitor.
