I have a kenmore 70 series dryer that has power but want start when the start button is pushed. What could be wrong?

could be the start switch or it could be the safety switch in the bottem of the dryer that turn the dryer off incase the belt brakes.

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore Series 70 dryer wont start, just hums

Check for correct voltage at the terminal block on the back of the dryer, where the power cord attaches to the dryer.You should be getting 220/240 volts, check by way of a voltage tester.
If the voltage is correct, then could be the motor capacitor or the motor itself, or start button?
