Home and End keys take you to the beginning and end of text line.
If you want to go to the beginning or end of the whole document, you need to press Ctrl + Home or Ctrl + End respectively. This means that you have to press Ctrl key and hold, while you press Home or End momentarily; essentially use Ctrl like you would use the Shift key to obtain a capital letter.

you can navigate around using the arrow keys, tab and alt. Shift+tab will switch you from window to window and if you look on the screen there are letters that are underlined. Alt+'a letter' will take you to File. if you need to 'save as' ctrl+A, save ctrl+s, print ctrl+p. You can tab from button to button.
As for the mouse, you can try to reinstall the driver, you can find that by going into,windows, control panels, system, device manager. You can use the windows key, tab and the arrow keys to get there or buy another mouse use it to fix the driver and then return it, or keep it around just in case.
