SOURCE: make noise during wash cycle, has no agitator action and no spin during spin cycle/drain cycle

Looks like the bearings may have failed. TURN OFF the POWER and try and rotate the agitator/tub by hand. If it is jammed you should investigate why. Possibly caused by bearing failure or something wound around spindle.

Take care and do not attempt to investigate the problem without first disconnecting from the mains!

SOURCE: Squeeking during wash cycle

Hi jbramwilliam

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Sometimes this is caused because something is now rubbing. Make sure:
The screws are secure to the counter,
The d/w is perfectly level,
The legs are all tight to the floor,
If the back legs are wheels then shim with wood blocks.
If it still squeeks then you have a warranty problem.

Why washing machine squeaks when in wash cycle

Hello friend, thank you for your inquiry!

Based off the information you have provided you are hearing a squeaking noise during the wash rinse cycle on your Frigidaire washer. You could be hearing the noise from your motor during that operation, this is normal. Additionally, if you feel that this is noise an issue I would contact a professional to come out and diagnose your appliance properly. -Matt

Loks that your machine is pretty old and hence the belt has hardened making a squeaking noise.
Good fix is get a new drive belt.
OR
Quick fix is you could put some oil on the drive belt..... it will work for now but not a permenant solution.

Timer Stalling

I would check the water hoses for twisting, make sure the water faucets are turned on all the way, and check the filters at the washer end of the hoses to make sure they are clean. I would also check the drain system to make sure it is clean and the machine is draining well.

Squeaking Top Load GE Washer

I bought a new GE Washer GTWN5050MWS yesterday. From the first load it squeaked each time the tub moved back and forth (no agitator in the infusion type) It is a quick squeak and kind of resembles a cat getting it's tail under a moving rocking chair. I checked the entire owners manual and it describes several noises and not one of them describes what my new washer is doing. It does not make this sound except for when it is in the wash cycle. Spinning is quiet, and during the agitation of the rinse cycle it is a much more subdued squeak. But during the wash cycle it is not acceptable.

I called GE this morning and they told me it was normal operation for all infuser types of their washer to make this noise. Tomorrow I will be taking it back for a full refund.

We purchased this machine because our 2-year old front loading GE washer broke down (discharge pump I think) and to get it fixed usually takes a couple of weeks. We thought it might be better to have a 2nd washing machine instead of paying the laundry mat. It took a month to get the last one declared unfixable in 2008. Maybe I was wrong. But this is very bad luck to have a brand new washing machine squeak so loud out of the box.
