Sony VPL-CX6 lens protector not opening

Hello,

Recently, my videoprojector (Sony VPL-CX6 Multimedia Projector) stopped working.
Whenever I try to turn it on, the lamp does light up, but the lens projector doesn't move. After a few seconds, the projector automatically turns off.
I saw that when doing this, the "LAMP/COVER" indicator flashes, as it is said in the user manual.
However, this user manual only says to contact Sony. And I am quite sure the projector is no more covered by garantee.

So, I would like to know if there is a way for me to repair the projector, and if it is risky or not to proceed to emergency mode (as explained in he manual) for a long time.

Your lap its not working , mabe is over 2000 hours , you need a new one.

I replaced the lamp in my projector because the image was dull. The new lamp however has made very little difference. The projector is 3+ years old. Could the problem be dust and if so what is the best way...

check manual or call Sony

lots of optics on projectors have a coating on them that will be ruined if you use any type of cleaners on them

to be safe you could just try to blow dust off or wipe gently with a lens cleaning cloth

I have a VPL-CX6 projector that worked perfectlly one day and the day after it was "dead" No lights. No noise. Can it be the lamp. VBut shouldn´t the fan work?

Sony VPL-CX6 Projector turns itself off. No image projected.

does the "lamp/cover"-led light up? i had the same thing happening, the lamp either broke or is about to break and the projektor won't turn it on again to protect itself. if its very urgent, open the projector pull the lamp out and put it in again, it might work for 1 or 2 more times, but it is very likely to explode (usually not breaking the projector but for sure not good for it).
