An NB-4L battery charger is what you need to charge the battery for that model. My Canon charger is a small box with fold out wall socket prongs and a mount for my battery to slip into.


This looks like a Generic version sold on eBay, that includs a Euro/mexico Socket adapter.

I have a Canondigital ixusi which had the same problem and I purchased three new batteries, but found that all of them showed the "replace battery pack" message when fully charged. I have solved this problem by cleaning all the terminals on the batteries and in the camera very thoroughly with alcohol and Q-tips. Even though the terminals look completely clean, there must be a slight film which is preventing good contact. The contacts in the camera are spring loaded and I suspect they are not making a very good conection to the battery so any contamination is making a high resistance to the flow of electricity. Hope this helps - it worked for me.

No it won't charge through the USB port. Just buy a new generic charger for the NB-4L battery. They're very inexpensive. Here's some from Amazon:

It is a very commom comphenion,the original canon nb-4l battery often decrease its capacity and won't charging normally after 30 charge/discharge cycles or so.If you don't want to miss the important shots,get a cheap higher capacity replacement canon nb-4l battery as a spare power bank in hand.

No you can't. Recommend just buying another charger. Generic NB-4L chargers are relatively inexpensive ($6 to $10). So are the generic NB-4L batteries. Here's some chargers from Amazon:
