My original 80GB Ipod gets an error code 1437

I have tried to restore the original settings using the Itunes website. When I try to restore, I get a message "Ipod could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1437). It stops at that point and I can't do any more. It used to download several songs before showing this message. I can't download anything from the Itunes website due to this message. I have tried to reboot the system but no luck. Any ideas?

I'm not really sure about my solution but i did it and it WORKED so well. When you catch some error like it, you just leave your Ipod alone, wait until the screen turn black and go back to charge it. I really WORKED for me when it leave it alone and thought that it already died. I hope u will it through it.

This symptom may be caused by an issue with the digital signing ofWindows XP drivers. Following the steps below to reregister several.dll files mentioned below may resolve this issue. Before proceedinghowever, try to restore the iPod using the latest version of iTunes.. If you are unable to restore it or the symptom reappears, then follow the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the iPod from the computer and close iTunes.
  2. Highlight all of the following 10 lines of text that begin with regsvr32 and then choose Copy from the Edit menu of your web browser: regsvr32 /s softpub.dll
    regsvr32 /s wintrust.dll
    regsvr32 /s dssenh.dll
    regsvr32 /s rsaenh.dll
    regsvr32 /s gpkcsp.dll
    regsvr32 /s sccbase.dll
    regsvr32 /s slbcsp.dll
    regsvr32 /s mssip32.dll
    regsvr32 /s cryptdlg.dll
    regsvr32 /s initpki.dll

  3. Open the Notepad program by navigating to:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad
  4. In Notepad, choose Paste from the Edit menu. Note: make sure that the text that appears in Notepad is the same as what is shown above.
  5. From the File menu, choose Save As.
  6. In the File name: field type appleipod.bat and save the file to the Desktop.
  7. Close Notepad and locate the appleipod.bat file. It should appear on the Desktop with the icon shown below: My original 80GB Ipod gets an error code 1437 - ts1539_1.jpg
  8. Double-clickthe file and you will see a black window appear on the screen for abouta minute. Wait until the window automatically disappears and proceed tothe next step.
  9. The appleipod.bat file can be deleted at this time.
  10. Open iTunes and connect the iPod.
  11. When the iPod appears in iTunes, restore the iPod and resync your content.
Note: Because some malwaremay unregister the .dll files, make sure you have the most recentupdates to your anti-virus software and then do a full scan of yourfiles.

Can not sync my ipod to my itunes keeps saying unknown error 1437.. dont know what to do next

Hi smdente... Anyone having problems with the error "1437" I have been searching the internet high and low and have done so much and I believe I have finally found a way to fix it. "1437" is the error where your ipod just wont register as an ipod and when it finally does it will begin to restore but corrupt halfway through saying error 1437.

First of all I got this code which you save in Notebook as appleipod.bat

regsvr32 /s softpub.dll
regsvr32 /s wintrust.dll
regsvr32 /s dssenh.dll
regsvr32 /s rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 /s gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 /s sccbase.dll
regsvr32 /s slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 /s mssip32.dll
regsvr32 /s cryptdlg.dll
regsvr32 /s initpki.dll

You save as that to your desktop exit out of it then double click on it. A black screen will come up, load, then disappears.

Reset your unplugged ipod by pressing the center and menu button, once the apple logo appears press the center and play/pause button until it does into disk mode. Once in disk mode plug it into your computer and wait for itunes to register it and restore! KABOOM! fixed.. well, at least for now. I dont know if this was just by chance but this last step with the resetting your ipod didnt work the first time for me so I continued my google quest and on another website there was one more step. To have you ipod off and fiddle with the "hold" button the the top left of the ipod while off and then start the steps. It could have just been by chance but it worked so do try. Ipod will not restore

according to the apple website here is some help with the solution.
this is taken straight from apple.

Symptoms When restoring or updating an iPod in iTunes 7 or later, you may see a dialog reporting "An unknown error has occurred" followed by the error number 1415, 1417, 1418, 1428, 1429, 1430, 1436 or 1439.
Products Affected iPod, iPod mini, iPod shuffle, iPod nano, iTunes 7 for Windows, iTunes 7 for Mac, iTunes 8 for Mac, iTunes 8 for Windows
Resolution If you are experiencing these errors, begin by updating to the latest version of iTunes. When you have the current version of iTunes, try the following:
  • Disconnect and reconnect your iPod and then attempt to restore.
  • Restart your computer and then attempt to restore your iPod.
  • Disable or Enable Disk Use on your iPod and then attempt to restore.
  • Try connecting your iPod to a different USB port and then attempt to restore.
  • Remove any third-party USB devices you have connected to your computer (it is not necessary to remove your keyboard or mouse).
  • If you use Windows, re-register .dll files as described in article iTunes displays -50 error message when syncing iPod on Windows XP
  • For Windows users, update or reinstall your Windows USB drivers.

ERROR CODE 02-60 WHEN TRYING TO PLAY IPOD.

I had the same exact problem with the 4100DVD I got on 5/01/09. I reset my Ipod via the Itunes software. This will wipe your Ipod clean and reinstall everything. I was a bit leary about this but gave it a shot and viola! It is working just as it was when I first purchased 5 days ago.

Make sure you back up your Ipod first. After the reset, it will ask if this is a new install or restore. Select restore and everything is back again, including downloaded games and app. (I have an Ipod Touch)
