Hi All, I recently acquired the Radio Shack version of the Casio WK3800 (1800MD) and the keyboard fails to turn on. I tried the stock AC Adapter, a universal AC Adapter that meets the same technical specifications, and fresh set of D-cell batteries with no change in behavior. Regardless of whether I use batteries or the AC Adapter, the keyboard does not turn on. I looked-up the manual and also scoured the internet for troubleshooting tips but couldn't find anything to identify the root cause or possible fixes. Any ideas? Thanks!

How familiar are you with schematics? I've just found my CT-670, There where marker marks on the keys. I cleaned it up. I took it apart as one channels had no sound. I love this machine. I want to find a manual for it also schematics would be very helpful for me too.
I would suggest looking inside for burns on semiconductors. or loose soldering. I need to replace a chip that has no cross reference... that I've found yet... I think it's an amplifier but need to spend more time on it....

Have you tried signing on to your computer as the administrator? I looked at the support pages at Casio and saw how confusing they are. Look at page: http://support.casio.com/information.php?rgn=5&cid=008&pid=114 and page: http://support.casio.com/information.php?rgn=5&cid=009&pid=115. Pay attention to the red lettering. The computer might be considered as the midi out device and the keyboard as the midi in device or the other way around, I'm not sure. Pretend its a telephone conversation with one person talking and the other person replying. I don't know if this helps but you can also try tech support at Sweetwater Sound (800)222-4700.

Check that you don't have old batteries in the unit. Also that the auto power down is not activated.
If using a power adapter make sure it is the RIGHT one, both in polarity and current rating.
Testimonial: "Sorta helpful. How do I check for auto power down activation? Thanks for responding so soon. I'm not using batteries and used the original ac adapter."

Hi genoness1,
If you noticed that the pedal works on and off depending on the jack plug positioning, it is because the jack is already broken loose from the solder on the board. If the pedal that you are using can normally open as most or normally closed like Roland types, you can still replace the loosed jack. Unit has to be opened and correct jack replaced.
Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.
