I have a Roper used washer. Good shape but when it spins, I smell burnt rubber. The same smell that happens with a vacuum when it gets jammed up. I'm assuming it's a belt of some sort. Can you tell me what belt it might be & if there is a video somewhere that will show me how to replace? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
SOURCE: Roper washer does not drain
Alicia7q : Faulty water pump or restriction in drain line between tub and outlet hose.
arlenekc,: That metal thing is part of the motor. What you have is a leaking water pump.
badwasher,: Check the lid switch. This machine will not spin or drain if the switch is faulty.

check the tub casting under the agitator or it the gearcase

Thanks, Master Tech; I was having the same problem as Jason. When I put the pen in place, I realized that the motor was running, but the tub wasn't spinning (which I thought it was because of the sound of the motor). So, I put my hand in and gave it a push/spin and it started turning on its own after I did that.. So, I'm going to let it run and see what happens when the cycle is done. At least its a start in the right direction!

That sounds like a bad drum bearing, check and eventually replace the drum bearing.
