Picture size How to decrease picture size on this tv, heads and/or captions are cut off. There is no picture mode or screen size on the remote or menu listing

  • Anonymous May 19, 2013

TV is an em2 not em8

  • Michael Guertin May 19, 2013

In that case, the FORMAT button should do the same thing and should be located directly underneath the power button on your remote.

I found the user manual online, and the pictures in it are really helpful and make this make a lot more sense, but:
1. Press [SCREEN MODE], to switch the TV aspect ratio.
2. Press [SCREEN MODE] repeatedly until the normal screen displays.
NOTE: • Some programs may not offer all display mode options.
4:3 Programming
[Sidebar] Sidebar displays a 4:3 picture at its standard 4:3 size. Sidebars will be displayed on the right and left edges of the screen.
[Full] Full displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size, with horizontal elongation necessary to fill the screen.
[Cinema] Cinema displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size, with less horizontal elongation necessary to fill the screen because a little bit of the top and bottom edge of the screen will be cut off.
[Wide] Wide displays the center of the picture as original size and the outer sides of the picture will be elongated. The size of the picture will depend on the original signal.
16:9 Programming
[Full] A picture is displayed at 16:9 size as it is.
[Zoom] Zoom displays a 16:9 picture without changing its horizontal and vertical ratio, at its maximum size.
[Cinema] Cinema displays a 16:9 picture with vertical elongation.
[Expand] Expand displays a 16:9 picture with horizontal elongation

I haven't been able to put closed captioning on tv. I don't understand how and what code to use to get the closed captioning to work.

Enable Caption Using the Original Remote
  1. Press the [CCD] button to change the CCD mode.
  2. Using this button will set the Closed Caption mode when viewing a DTV or TV channel.
Enable Caption Using the TV Menu
  1. Open the Menu screen, select the third icon, in the middle, this is the Setup Menu.
  2. In the Setup Menu, choose the Caption option.
  3. Caption: There are three items in it - Analog Closed Caption, Digital Closed Caption and Digital Caption Style
  • Analog Closed Caption: CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4, TEXT1,TEXT2, TEXT3, TEXT4.
  • Digital Closed Caption: Service1, Service2, Service3, Service4, Service5, Service6.
  • Digital Caption Style: There are two Caption Styles. One is the automatic function set as the broadcaster, while the other is the custom style where you can adjust the font size, color, opacity, background color etc., accordingly.

My TV seem to be on wide screen and it shows half the picture, how do I set it up on full screen? No other material is connected to the TV

Hello
If your TV displays a black box type shade on the screen means that your TV may be set to "Text" mode. To clear the screen, select "Caption Off mode".
To do this, press "MENU" button to display menu functions on the screen. Press "channel up or channel down" button to select the function "CAPTION". Press "Volume Up or Volume Down " button to select the mode you wish. There are five modes that you can select; Caption-Off; Caption-C1; Caption-C2; Caption-T1 and Caption-T2. As no other matereial is connected to your TV, you just select "CAPTION-OFF". When done press the Menu button again to exit menu display. Ok.

Need caption taken off

Hi, the only other way would by going into the menu or display mode by pressing the corresponding key located in the front of the TV(if available) and using the other keys to scroll down the list to where you can access the audio features. you'll have to look for the caption heading once in the audio select menu and keep pressing the select key untill the cc feature says off, this should eliminate the black box blocking the picture.

Need to know how to put the tv on close caption

Captioned programs are marked in TV listings by "CC". so press the cc button on the remote and the closed caption option will be applied.press that cc button again to turn off the closed caption option.
1) Check the size and manufactured year of your television. If it was made after 1993 and is larger than 13 inches, it has a closed captioning system built into it. Otherwise, you may need to purchase a separate closed caption system, which are available at a number of online outlets.
  1. 2)Turn on your TV and access the menu for closed captioning. The precise location of the menu varies by television set. Most are accessible by pressing the "Audio" or "Set Up" menu on your remote, then scrolling down to the "CC" or "Closed Captioning" option. Check your owner's manual for precise instructions.
  2. 3)Turn the closed captioning option to the "On" position. It will then run closed captions for every program that broadcasts them. Newer sets may allow you to adjust the size, font and colors of the closed captioning letters to fit your individual tastes.
  3. 4)Tune to a particular program for a few minutes to make sure the closed captions are working. Note that while many broadcasts run closed captioning, not all of them do. If the captions don't appear, check your TV listing to ensure the program includes them.
  4. 5)If you're watching a DVd on your TV, access the DVD's "Set Up" menu. It should have captioned options, which allow you to show captions in English and possibly other languages as well.
  5. thanks.

TV is stuck in expanded picture mode & won't return to normal

seems to me as a Sony TV. The sony tv has this feature ready in the menu. you can do zoom out ,standard etc,
But the real problem comes when the tv is turn off and then you get back to turn on the tv (lets say next day)and you find the same big heads.
what you have to do is going to the menu same thing but this time look for an option is called picture size default. This option make learn the memory what size you want custom when tv is turn on.This function is in the same page as the picture size page (refer to the user's manual) but has to be the default mode where you want the change.
The problem with sizes now days is some shows fit perfect some others not. and besides that the cable box has those features too(change size of the screen)

What i do in this sony tv to start first is keeping it in the standard size in the tv menu and i defaulted too.

when some size adjustment is needed i do it in the cable box remote control .Once again this example i do it in SONY tv, Maybe you have to post the problem again if the tv is different brand.

Sony Trinitron 13 inch TV, KV-13M10. Cannot delete black text box

You must find the "All in one" remote. That will have a "display" button that needs to be pressed. You may just need to go to Radio shak and ask for an old one for a day to do it. Good Luck.

Close captioning

Well lets try the simple things first, Go to the TVs menu using the original TV remote and find the icon or menu that says Captions, in that menu turn all the closed captions OFF. Second there is a button on the original TV remote that says format, push this till you get to a screen that says FULL in the upper left corner. That should resolve your problems, If closed caption still comes through then we need to know if this set is hooked directly to cable or goes through a cable box. It sound like you simply had the closed caption turned on and the screen in one of the zoom formats this TV provides
