do you have a desktop disk to put in and if you do then install it and it should set it up auto matically

The fax drivers may have been erased when the computer crashed.Re-install all software and try it again.

To install your fax4100, you will need to install the appropriate drivers for your OS.

For windows XP

For windows 7 the drivers are built in.
If you do not find the drivers, please do a windows update.
You may need to do the windows update more then once.

Yes, we used to connect to the fax machine to print via parallel cable, but our new laptop computer does not have a parallel port, so we connect via USB now to use the Brother 4100 Intellifax as a printer. It prints very nicely. We downloaded the driver from BrotherUSA.com

and clicked on Fax Machines, then our Intellifax 4100e, then View Download and selected our operating system and language. Just a tip - When you decompress the download, in the location to decompress to, add a folder to hold the files named Brother4100 or something like that, then when you add the printer, select that folder as your "Have Disk" location. Hope it works well for you.

Guest...make sure the phone line is plugged into the LINE port of the fax machine.

Purchase a flash card for the fax machine. Contact your dealer to assist you with this. It installs in the back of the machine under a little panel marked as such.
