I have the same problem. However sometime i can hear myself through the speakers and once i go into sound setting it stops again. It seems that vista driver is making volume go to 0. All drivers state they are working properly

Does anyone else have issues hearing their own voice through a headset with Vista?

I recently upgraded both of my machines to Windows Vista Ultimate. Since I've done this, I can no longer hear my voice through my headset (with Softphone). The customers can hear me fine and I can hear them fine, but I cannot hear my own voice - sounds like I'm talking with my hands over my ears. Of course, this is very annoying to say the least. It always worked fine with Windows XP so it has to be a Vista issue?

I have the same problem with different headsets so that's not it. I've tried all the settings within the Softphone and my PC itself and couldn't find anything that would fix it. I've tried Ring Central support and they walked me through several re-installations of the soft phone among many other things with no prevail. I just got off the phone with Microsoft and they told me that hearing my voice through my headphones is not a feature in Vista, LOL! C'mon, you're going to tell me that everyone in this world using a voIP phone and Vista will not hear their voices with a headset?!?! Geesh.....

So I guess I'd like to know if anyone here is using a Softphone with Vista and a headset without problems?

And if someone has any idea how to fix this, I'd LOVE to know!

Frustrated :x

I too have a laptop (yes its vista) and same problem. plug the audio jack into the microphone jack only.....you will need to speak in thru the earpiece. It works and quality is still good. I then listen to the other person thru laptop speakers or if you want a little privacy you can always revert to using the ol trusty ipod ear phones......cheers

- Right click the speaker icon in the system tray
- Double Click Speakers
- On the Levels TAB scroll until you find the port that your headset is plugged into and mute it.

What a relief!

Either the headset is not supported by Vista, or you need to right click on both speaker icons, normally coloured red and black and in the properties you need to see if your headset is listed as one of the microphone input devices, if you need to make the Logitech headset the default mic and not the windows generic mic. If you do not see it in the properties then it may not be recognised by Vista.

Sorry the speaker icons will be on the taskbar on the right hand side, probably Realtek HD

I bought a new computer and i would like to installed my logitech webcam but i lost my cd

We need the Logitech model or look the right software (driver) in THIS LINK for the right Operative System. Also could search for AUTO-DETECT method:

Auto-detect is a small addition to your web browser that scans your operating system for any USB corded, wireless, or Bluetooth - attached Logitech hardware. You must be running Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP and the Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Google Chrome web browser to use it.
This component collects no personal data, searches only attached Logitech hardware, and can be deleted once you're done searching your hardware.

I bought a web cam. How do I install it?

Hi,
Some webcam models are plug and play.
It would have been good, if you mentioned the Operating System on the computer (Windows XP , Vista , Windows 7 : 32 bit / 64 bit), as well as the exact model of the Logitech Webcam.
The Logitech Webcam may have come along with a disk for the driver(s) : i.e : it's software(s).
Or, you may install it's drivers from the Logitech website, by clicking on the foll. link :-
http://www.logitech.com/en-in/support-downloads
Over there, you have an option to select the Logitech Webcam's model & the Operating System on the computer, and you can install the drivers from there.
Since you will be using Skype, make sure that on Skype, under video settings, the Logitech Webcam is selected.
I hope the above details do suffice.

I have QuickCam 8.3.0 and just bought a new computer with Windows Vista 64 bit ... where can I get a driver for this ? I found drivers that support other windows apps such as XP .. but not for Vista

mgbbgm19,

According to Logitech's support site, the QuickCam Messenger series web-cams aren't supported in Windows Vista. :(

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/480/3378&cl=gb,en?osid=13

Also, being that it is considered a "legacy device" now, they probably will not invest the time into writing drivers for Windows Vista.

Here is a link to their newer web-cams, almost all of them are vista compatible. You can verify their operating system compatibility under the "Specifications" tab of each products page.

Window vista corupted

Goto to Toshiba.com and get the Windows XP drivers from the support Website. Usually on Toshiba computers BIOS updates are made to the notebook to correspond to the operating system. These updates could make if difficult to make the computer backwards compatible with other operating systems.

Here is a link to get to Toshibas support website

You may have to run one operating system or the other.

The software CD is not capatable with my Windows 2000,

What version of Windows do you have. Logitech has software for Windows XP and Vista. If you don't have one of those versions, you may be out of luck.

If you do, you can get the software right from Logitech. Go to http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/433/136&cl=us,en?osid=1&file=

In the middle of the page, there is drop down box for 'Choose OS'. Choose your version of Windows (XP or Vista), and then choose the file appropriate for your platform (32 or 64 bit) and click the 'Download Software' button and save it to your desktop. If you do not know whether you have a 32-bit or 64-bit system, click on "Start", Right click on "Computer" and select "Properties". It should list the type of operating system being used.

Once downloaded, double-click on the new file on your desktop and follow the onscreen prompts, accepting the defaults.

Hope it helps.
