Paper is crumpled, toner is not adhering in certain areas

A regular weight piece of paper feeds through the printer and comes out crumpled on the upper right quadrant - wrinkles and creases. An envelope fed through the middle portion of the printer is also creased. A heavy weight sheet will not crease.
When printing labels, the toner does not adhere properly to the upper right quadrant of the label sheet - it smears and peels off.

I tried to take the side off the printer to get to the rollers, but was unsuccessful - I couldn't figure out a way to get the cover off. I cannot see anything in the cartridge area or the feeding area that looks wrong. There isn't any paper stuck that I can see. The back drop-down area is also clear.

Can I fix it or do I buy new?
Thanks,

The fuser is shot....this is the unit that uses heat and pressure to fuse the toner to the page. It is primarily when the pressure roller wears that you get crinkling and bad fusing, but I'm sure the upper sleeve has seen better days as well.
These days it is (sadly) cheaper to replace this printer with a new little HP -only around $100 or so.

Welll its not a canon but ew are in dire need. Our 16 month old OKI b4600 wont print.Error message says clear paper jam. cant find a jam swapped tray, cartridge/drum etc. No luck. Any suggested

Hi There and Welcome to Fixya,

Usually, paper jams can occur at the input location right at the bottom of the printer - always remember that even a tiny piece of paper can cause halt in printing, hence, the error message.

Here's what I'm suggesting for you to do :
  • Start with pulling out the tray from the printer and look for ANY crumpled/pieces/fragments of paper that could be tucked in.
  • At the bottom of the printer is the feed area - do the same thing and remove any pieces of paper.
  • Ensure that it's absolutely "paper fragment free" before returning the tray back at the printer.
  • Next, is to open the top cover and carefully remove the drum.
  • Remove any pieces or fragments of paper that you find.
  • Carefully slide back the drum, ensure that everything snaps into place.
  • Close the top cover.
  • Restart your printer.
I most certainly hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Printer light says paper jam but cannot find it. Almost have the whole printer torn apart and cannot figure it out. I copy the light comes on and paper only feeds in about 1/4 way. Then a real paper jam....

Did you remove the strip from the toner cartridge before you installed it? There should have been a tab to pull out a strip that looks like a long piece of tape. This prevents the toner from spilling out during shipping. It must be removed prior to use.

Red paper light is on even though there is paper in the tray. brother 2040 model.

This is a paper jam. Remove paper try as well as the toner/drum unit. Take vacuum and clean out inside the printer. Separate the toner & drum units and vacuum-blow out the drum unit to get it clean. Run the drum wire cleaner tab (purple/blue tab at front of the drum unit) back & forth a number of times. Sounds like you've got a piece of paper stuck inside somewhere. In the back of the printer, there is a door that will open out and down...check here for a speck of paper that is causing the paper light to come on...it "sees" something is in the way) since this is where the paper curls up and out the top. Reassemble toner/drum unit. Before you put the paper tray back in, take a piece of paper and feed from the front (use light card stock or heavy weight paper since this will help push out anything inside that's in the way) and print a few pages this way. Then, make sure your paper is dry (hasn't been in humid area) and is lying flat (not curled at edges). That should do it

Paper feed problem-wont go through- crumpling up as it tries to go through

You probably have a piece of paper stuck at the place where it's crumpling. Take a good look and carefully extract it. It may be small, so look hard.

CLP 300 crumpling lower right hand side of paper

There is a foreign object in the paper feed path. It could be anything from a paper clip or staple through to an insect (or worse). It will definitely be on the side where the crumpling occurs. Try feeding a strip of card or thin flexible plastic backwards through the feed mechanism. A laminated sheet of paper can also be effective for this.

Paper jam from bottom tray.

You might have a piece of paper out of sight. It usually is before the toner and after the pick up area. BEst to call 800-ok canon to find a local service center. This unit comes with a 3 year warranty, and you might still be covered.

Paper folds and jams before

your description points to a fuser assembly problem which is right where you looked. I'm not sure what that plastic piece is from. if it is black, it probably came from the fuser. That is a replaceable part, but I'm not sure you can still purchase them from Xerox.

Paper jam

If it is getting crumpled in the tray, there is something blocking the paper path.
What I would suggest is taking out the toner and drum cartridge, then remove the paper tray. Tip the machine on it's back and look into the paper feed area for something blocking the paper path.
When it is crumpling the paper like that, the feeder is working fine, just something blocking the paper path.
You can take a minela folder, and gently push it through the paper path to dislodge the obstruction.

My copier makes a noisy sound

Check the crumpled paper. If it has an image, it has reached the drum and is crumpling at the fuser unit (part that gets hot). If that is the case the fuser gear and drive gear need to be replaced.
