Face down or printed side down

try this
set button-keep pressing the right arrow until u reach basic fax set-ok-keep pressing the right unitil u get fax volume-ok-off/soft/loud-ok

push the auto awnser button on the printer to receive faxes

Have you inadvertently disconnected the phone line?

Do you have the jetdirect print server attached to the printer? If so, follow the instructions for the print server setup before connecting to the broadband router

Check the phone line with a regular phone.

You have to have either a dedicated phone line just for the fax --or-- pay your phone company approximately $2 a month for a service called Distinctive Ringtone. This service will ring a certain way when you have an incoming fax. You will then configure your fax machine to pick up when this distinctive rington is heard. The ringtone is usually two or three quick rings. Your fax machine's settings will have this setting.

Unfortunately, you can't just plug your fax machine into your phone line and start sending/receiving faxes. Look through your fax machine's manual regarding the distinctive ring service. Good luck!!

you can use the printer by itself , but if you want to hook it up thru the computer , then youre gonna need a special cable that connects on one end to the printer and USB connector at the other end , then your gonna need the installation disk that comes with the printer, but Im guessing you dont have the disk , but dont worry , it can be download thru the HP website , heres the link : http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html , this will direct you with support, click where it says DOWNLOAD DRIVERS and SOFTWARE , and on the white box, you gonna write officejet k60, and follow the steps from there , hope this helps , please rate AJ

Line interface unit is broken beacuse of which the beeping sound comes up. It tries to intiate however fails as a result the sound comes up. Need to replace the printer.
