Odor i purchased a frigidaire refrigerator in 2005, model FRT18S6AWM, it is for a home rarely used. Problem is there is a constant odor noticed by many. it is extremely clean -- and cleaned on a reg basis. the odor is like one we cannot detect. it seeeps into all the food and highly noticed by all who taste food. It is so upseting especially since we cannot get any help from frigidaire other than clean out refrig. i have a very sick grandchild and this concerns me and my family rose please help me

No household units use ammonia as a coolant. IF it did and it leaked, you would know it immediately. If the unit still works, there is no issue with the Freon that is in it. The odor could be a sealant that was used to make the interior of unit. You did not say how old it is. Freon can have an odor to it but the unit would stop working correctly pretty fast.

From my understanding the ice within your Frigidaire refrigerator tastes funny. Odors or taste within the ice can come from strong flavors of food within the freezer or refrigerator. You should discard your bucket of ice and allow it to make a new batch, also tightly seal any containers that may cause odor issues. · Washing the walls with warm soapy water.

· Washing the walls with warm water and baking soda. Do not mix other products with bleach.

· Place a pan of charcoal inside the appliance. Do not use self-starting charcoal.

· Place a pan of kitty litter inside the refrigerator.

Hello Maria, this is JK. I understand that you recently purchased a pre-owned refrigerator. Changing out the filter and the tubing were a great start to clean water. If you have not already, I would encourage you to run 10-12 glasses of water to freshen the supply and rinse out the tank. If you find that this odor and taste still persist, you may want to have the water tank replaced. Hope this helps!

it has a one year warranty on the machine call for factory service at no charge

All you can do is replace the part. I am not sure on frigidaire parts, they use to have 1 year warranty on replacement, some companies have gone to 90 days.
