I've got aProscan
Model PS27500 (1998) that was setup for cable from DirectTV.I've removed the cable hookup and moved the TV to my
garage workshop where I hooked it up to an Optima antenna (enhanced Rabbit
Ears) for local program reception.Now,
with the push for High Definition (HD), I’ve installed a converter box (Digital
Stream Model DTX9950 and am trying to get ready for when the change-over occurs. The converter box comes with a universal
remote control device.However, when I
try to run a full setup, problems occur. And it appears that the new setup process does not reset all of the TV’s
functions. During setup, some remote controller functionality does not work the
way it should and there appears to be residual functions left from the original
setup for cable.I cannot get the system
to work properly. Now I am wondering if
perhaps I need to run the setup functions using the original RCA universal
remote controller.
Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions on how to resolve
this problem?
I used the remote control code of "69" for Thompson which makes GE & RCA according to another post. This worked to program the remote of my GO Video DVD-VCR for the TV

your toshiba player should have output composite video and audio which are color coded Yellow for video, red and white for audio same goes for proscan hdtv. connect between the two keeping in mind color of cables. If the toshiba player is really old you can connect the RF cable output to antenna input to the proscan tv and watch taped programs from the player on channel 3 of the proscan tv. If then you want to keep the hookup and still watch HDTV connect the antenna to the toshiba vcr and when you shut off the vcr you can now watch the hdtv channels as usual because now you are bypassing the antenna to the Proscan tv. Hope this Helps..
Comcast's remote has nothing to do with closed captioning. It's on your tv remote. First, the tv has to be capable of handling closed captioning, and your's is- and second, the program must have closed captioning provided- current programs do, some older shows do not support closed captioning. Recheck your remote, and if necessary- look at the setup instructions that came with the TV- they should also be posted online at the Proscan support site.
is your dvd player is a blue ray or hd dvd ? if it is you need to go into the setup menu of the dvd and set it for 1080. if it's just an older dvd player it will be at 480
