Canon powershot Elph 330 wifi camera lists my wireless network on the screen, asks for encryption key and then cannot find or connect with my wireless router. I have an older Dell PC running Windows XP. Canon support says it may work but they do not support XP so they cannot help. Any ideas?
The answer is there from canon
win xp is so far out of date that canon has no drivers for that operating system
upgrade to vista , win 8 or best win 10 and the problem may be solved
Driverscape lists several Windows XP files for this model. DO NOT trust those. I REPEAT - DANGER! I downloaded on the files, but did not run it, and then I uploaded it to VirusTotal, and it detected the following malware.
Baidu
Win32.Trojan.WisdomEyes.16070401.9500.9960
Zillya
Worm.Chir.Win32.9768
this is a very good example of why only manufacturer web site downloads should be used so if canon doesn't have a down load for your model for win xp os then you have to upgrade the os till you find download from canon that has a suitable win os

If you go here it says that for XP it does not have a driver, it also does not have one for Vista.
It does, however, have drivers for Win 98, so I am assuming that this is an older product and may not be supported by XP. But if you poke around in here you may be able to find a solution, not knowing the age of both products, or the purchase date, thats the best I can recommend.
Hope this helps!!

Having gone over a month without a response to my query, I assume my suggestion to use a card reader solved the problem.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Windows Photo Gallery or any other photo cataloging program.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
