If it will not open by itself, open up a small paperclip and push it into the little hole on the front of the cd rom. This will release the latch, and allow the drawer to open

How to manually open eject Crosley CR248 CD drawer

  1. Uh, I think you already have a solution but the following may help someone else.
  2. Ensure that the device is powered on.
  3. Press the "Function" button (28/58) to set the unit to CD mode.
  4. Press the "Open/Close" button (19/48) to open the CD drawer.
  5. Insert a CD into the tray with the label side facing up.
  6. Press the "Open/Close" button again to close the CD drawer.
If the above steps don't work, you can try the following:
  1. Unplug the device from the power outlet.
  2. Wait for a few minutes.
  3. Plug the device back in.
  4. Press the "Open/Close" button to see if the CD drawer opens.
If the drawer still doesn't open, there might be a mechanical issue with the device. Look for the Fixya advise referred to above. If if that doesn't work, in that case, it's best to contact Crosley's customer support for further assistance.

The display flashes "closed" and I can't open the cd drawer when pressing the open/close button. Is there a reset please ?

Try removing power from the unit, let it set two minutes without power and power it up again. See if the problem continues.
Make sure the cd drawer is complete closed and flush with the front panel. If not, something could be stuck inside.
Turn off power and remove cord from wall for next step:
There is a small hole generally on the flat face of the cd drawer through which a bent straight paper clip can be pushed gently until you hit a mechanical stop. Pushing slightly harder at this point should cause the cd drawer to move open mechanically. Gently pull the cd drawer open until you can remove any CD still inside.
Gently push the drawer closed again and restore power to the unit and see if the problem returns.
Would be nice to have manufacturer and model number of the CD player.

The CD drawer on a JVC EL-E3 CD Player fails to open/close. The CD fails to play when I physically close the drawer. The drawer does not close completely and needs an extra push to close it.

Sounds like the alignment is off. By physically pushing the drawer.
There is a motor on the side of the drawer that should control the drawer by pushing a piece of plastic back and forth. This piece can shift if pressed to hard. In the back of the drawer are the rods that control the top to drop. These need to be aligned with the side motor.

Whilst the cd drawer was in the open position I caught it with my knee leaving the drawer on an angle. When I press the close button nothing happens and any attempt to close manually is met with...

drawer is out of alignment...some players have timing marks to align the gears(similar to engines)...but without a service manual..it may be complicated...you can try to realign the drawer...there is a limit switch that tell the player when the drawer is fully open and one that tells the player when it is fully closed....a good way to try to realign is to move the drawer one tooth at a time and trying it..until it lines up

CD drawer will not open or close

Hi, The CD drawer mechanism needs a new belt. They have a motor that drives the tray mechanism, and there's a small belt that drives the main gear so that pushing the drawer in gently to close it doesn't damage anything. However, once that belt breaks/wears out, the drawer will stay in whatever position it was last in.

CD drawer stuck, then won't close

1. Most of the player drawer fixed over the chasis for a rigid support
2. try to remove the drawer safely without damagind the chasis and drive mechanism
3. there might be some shaft jam.
4. Look for the thread. how does the player drawer moves in and out
5. there may be some sensors to sense the door close/open. if it is jammed then open/close function cannot be done. why because this problem occurs
6. unwear the mechanism read the mechanism moving technique. see which has got jammed.
7. if you feel too risky then
8.contact service centre... all the best

Having a problem with my CD Player's drawer

This has to do with a mini switch inside the door mechanism that it pushes once but with the bounce phainomenon in electric pulses it thinks that you pushed the cd door inside manualy and it tries to close the door. Try replacing this mini switch. this will solve your problem.

CD drawer will not open or close

Had The Same With Mine. Its was the belt Inside that joins Motor To Cd Tray. Its Black and directly under the cd tray at the front. Its probably either loose like mine of maybe broken. I replaced mine with an elastic band and its been fine since.
