You cannot scan negatives or slides with this all in one printer.
You need a film scanner.

Hey Chris, how do you like the new format? Fresh coat of paint, and new drapes........How about the audacity that they now advertise their competitors websites in with your solution.......Kind of like, "We don't know what this idiot is doing, (Since we have no clue about the problem subject), so we're going to include searches our 5 year olds did, and add them to the solutions........Makes the expert look like a fool, FixYa look like a fool, and we don't care.......It's all about the Google search ratings you know, and advertising on here.......

Scanning 110 negative film

I just finished scanning many 110 film strips. You need to lay the strip along the inside edge of slot A and scan in normal preview mode. On the preview strip, put a marquee around each individual photo and scan each one separately. Worked fine for me.

Loading negative film in holder.

The button under the top door is for ejecting the film strip. To load negatives you just insert them until the machine recognizes them and then it will automatically load them.

Unable to scan b/w neg's correctly using Digital ICE

Unfortunately, you cannot use Digital ICE on B&W films due to silver particles contained within the film. The Digital ICE future only works with C-41 (negatives) and E-6 (slides) processed films, but not B&W films.

Huge difference in film scanning quality

For ARCHIVAL quality scans, there is no comparison. The Nikon wins hands-down. For making small prints and web sharing, either will work fine.

Film viewing and scanning

Sorry, but you won't be able to do that with a CX6600. In order to scan film negatives, you need a printer that includes a transparency unit in the lid, that is, a panel that lights the film from behind. Also, the CX6600's scan resolution wasn't designed for detailed film scans. Try the online Epson Store at www.epsonstore.com where you can often find good deals on refurbished stand-alone scanners with transparency units.
