The 20F530T uses the relatively newer ITC008 chassis. If the picture collapses down and only a small bright line is visible, it means that your vertical output IC has stopped working correctly. This could be due to a defective IC, cracked solder joints on the IC or the power supply that feeds it. The IC should be replaced or resoldered and/or the vertical power supply restored by an experienced tech familiar with the new line of RCA TV's.

White line only, has sound, may be 14 yrs old.

Hello
If there is a white line across the screen, the vertical output section of your TV is faulty. If the line is vertical at the middle of the screen, horizontal deflection yoke doesn't get sweep signal. You haven't mentioned about the full mode number of your RCA TV. Therefore I can only give you this much hint. OK.

this is a frame fault
the fact that you can still see the line when the tv is off is because you have been watching with the line and it has burnt into the crt.

Tv screen goes blank with a line across middle

Hi Andy.

This is a straight forward repair & wont be expensive.
The problem is either dry joints on frame chip or component going thermal and failing at a certain temperature.
Cost for repair will be between £35.00 to £55.00 ask for a quote first.

POP and noothiing

yes it can still be fixed! the pop sound you've heard maybe came from a blown capacitor in the vertical deflection circuits. this symptom, sometimes called the tube light effect, it is characterised by a bright thin horizontal line across the middle of the screen. this symptom is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence maybe the trouble maybe in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuits. but if all i have said is not clear to you, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
