Open Door Error Sony Up DM150 Printer

I have a old but servicable Sony printer. Sony up-dr150 photo printer ver 1.22. I am getting a DOOR OPEN ERROR that will not clear. Below is what I done and condition of the unit. I want to test test the door sensor but can not locate it. Any ideas of suggestion will greatly appreciated. I have straightened the locking pins so they engage better. Installed a new roll of paper and film. I can still push the door a little further closed (less than a 16th inch) but pushing the door all the way in and powering on does not clear the error. Part of the small black arms the go under each side of the top film roll have broken off. I have tried powering on with them in the up position and taped in a down position. I am missing the plastic print holder from the front of the unit. This "plastic strip" is called the "carriage encoder strip". This strip dictates the timing of the carriage assembly. If the end slots aren't broken, you can re-attach it. Otherwise, you'll need to replace it. They are about $10.

I just figured out my issue. It had to do with DEP − Data Execution
Prevention. I had remembered that I was fooling around with this a couple
weeks ago and had changed it to "Turn on DEP for all programs and services
except those I select" in which I had Windows Explorer checked. I just got
done selecting the original which states "Turn on DEP for essential Windows
programs and services only", rebooted, and now I can print again to my hp
7350 printer.
The DEP can be found under control panel−>system−>Advanced Tab−>Performance
Settings−>Data Execution Prevention Tab
Hope this helps.

and now to the point.......
look, if you know where the feeding wheel its good (like elastic material over this wheel) , now take a"nail cleaner" (aceton)
and clean this wheel (the elastic thing), i did thet and the problem is gone!!!
after the cleanning send 15-20 empty doc to print (remember - empty, dont use you ink - you dont have to - save money), if all the paper is out from the printer,

SOURCE: Thr printer was printing and just stopped when feeding a new page

“Orange Light blinking and printer not responding” is indicative of no paper or serious ink cartridge issue. Once the no paper is eliminated the scenarios below should be examined. I am saying this from experience.
i. Ink cartridge has developed incompatibility or is incompatible
The Solution is to try an older/another cartridge (doesn’t matter if ink is finished. You must replace cartridge one at a time). If lights stop blinking it confirms that your cartridge has become incompatible or developed incompatibility. Also if your printer is the type that can work with only one cartridge, remove one after the other (closing back the lid/cover) to determine which in the set (black or color) has become incompatible. At the instance the incompatible one is removed and you close the lid, the blinking will stop (for printers that can print with one ink cartridge only). Just replace the incompatible one and start printing again. In most cases the issue is always with one cartridge. But if both are affected, you have to replace both. Because of this type of problem, always keep used cartridges somewhere safe; they come in handy for this type of troubleshooting.
ii. The Cartridge electronic panel is dirty
The electronic panel on the cartridge that makes contact with the cartridge carrier inside the printer is dirty and needs cleaning. This electronic panel is front part of the cartridge with copper “dots”.
The Solution is to try to clean this panel with a piece of folded tissue paper soaked in a bit of methylated spirit. Also try to clean the area in the cartridge carrier/holder that makes contact with the cartridge’s electronic panel (Usually this is more difficult). If you cannot reach it with your fingers, use a stick or something with tissue wrapped around it. Allow to dry well and return the cartridges, close the cover. The blinking should stop if the electronic panel is the issue. Once the blinking stops the printer will print.

My DR 150 Sony printer will not print. It queues up in the printer queue. This has just started to happen. I have printed hundreds previously.

Hi
Can't be absolutely sure but it sounds as if the printer may be set to "offline". Have you checked this? Go to the printer queue window and click on "Printer" and make sure "Use printer offline" is not ticked. If it is untick and you should be underway again.
If it isn't ticked then unplug the printer from the computer and the mains, clear the printer queue completely and then shut down the computer and all peripherals and disconnect them from the mains. Wait a few minutes then plug all the peripherals in and turn them on, lastly plug in and boot the computer. This may clear any errors within the system.
It might also be worth unplugging the printer from the computer and re-installing the drivers to see if that works. If you have mislaid the manual it can be obtained in pdf format from here:
Sony UP DR150 Operating Instructions Manual
by clicking on the green download button on the left near the top of the page, entering the 3 letters that you are shown on the next page and then downloading it.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

I have a Sony UP-DR150 digital photoprinter that displays "Check Ribbon" I have tried changing both ribbon and paper at the same time but still keep getting same message, any ideas?

Hi,

Have you tried to Replace the Ribbon and Paper? Make sure the Ribbon must be Compatible and of Appropriate Size. It should not be loose. This message would Appear until Door is Open. Once you Replace the Ribbon and close the door, the message would disappear.

If not, Unplug the Printer for Few Minutes, say 15 minutes and then Turn it ON. That would Reset it.

Note - There was an Upgrade that was done for the software. If you have not Upgraded the software, this message would be there. Upgrade the Software and the message would disappear.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Sony UP-DR150 4x6 "ribbon error"

The black spool of the ribbon has a built in chip, If that chip is damaged it renders the ribbon unuseable. Be very careful if you take out party used ribbons and re insert them later.
