Silver is more expensive than stainless steel. Silverware pricing is high as silver is a precious metal and silverware is considered to be an heirloom. So if price is not a problem for you then silverware is the way to go. But if you want some thing more cost-effective, then choose stainless steel.

Cleaning the filter in my KUDS011jbs0. How do I access it? my dishes are always returned with grit and grime.

The filter is in the bottom centre of the dishwasher beneath the bottom rack.
Please note: the spray arms could be causing the problem your dishwasher is experiencing - the sprayers may become blocked, and this will affect the cleaning performance of your dishwasher. Please check the spray arm water holes and check for obstructions. You can clean the holes with a toothpick and use a descaler. Also please load dishes so they are not stacked or overlapping if possible.
Do not load silver or silver-plated silverware with stainless steel - these metals can be damaged by contact with each other during washing.

Hope this helps.

Stainless Steel for Projects

There are advantages in using stainless for brackets and metal plating or even as shims. You can get a cheap source of Stainless metal by going to Garage sales and Estate sales and buying used Silverware.

In particular, knives are handy for shims and reinforcement of weak parts. You can drill needed holes and also cut the blade to the length you need.

The spoons can be used to stir or mix chemicals. The forks can be detined to a single probe and used to punch reset buttons or release Electric connector tabs.

Sometimes you can make a single purpose tool better than anything you can buy using this idea.

Can stainless steel rust?

Unfortunately yes, any stainless steel product can get rusty under some circumstances although a stainless steel is much more resistant to corrosion and rust. I suggest you to get stainless steel if you don't want to replace your silverware and kitchen product every couple of months.
