My battery died while my keypad was locked...now what do I do? Even plugged into the wall charger I can't get it to boot up enough to unlock the keypad. So, now it won't charge, won't turn on, won't run off the wall charger, etc. It won't do anything and I don't know what to do. Any advice?

I just bought a new Motorola Q and it worked last night and now will not turn on? Reboot does not work! I have tried everything possible.

  • Anonymous May 03, 2008

This is sad --- I thought I was the only one! My Q does the same thing...it only displays the Verizon Wireless logo too. My battery is installed correctly and I can't seem to find the reset button (if it even has one).

  • xellenx May 06, 2008

as far as the advice goes, do you have to do the master reboot for that to work? And also, is it the phone, or the battery? Would getting a new battery help the problem?

My battery died and won't restart. It will turn on and give me the verizon screen but won't go past there, it just turns back off.

  • mhenry09 Jan 19, 2009

My Q was doing the same thing. One week old, I tuerned it off this morning, when I went ot turn it back on< just a white screen, displaying the alltel wireless logo. I did the master reset (by holding down the power button, and the center navigation key for several seconds.) Yes< it sucks , but it works. thank you!

I have the same problem, it wont get past the verizon screen, Ive tken out the battery several times for over 15 minutes, Ive system rebooted it, (erased everything for no reason...)

I have the same problem. I just got my q replaced/refurbished yesterday, and it wouldn't charge, so i took the battery out, put it back in, and now it wont go on at all. My other one use to get stuck on the verizon screen, but this one wont turn on at all.
This is the third q i've had thats broken and my insurance wont pay for another one or a different phone...very frustrating!

I was having the same problem.

It kept turning on and off one day last week and now it won't even turn back on. Before I went to bed I tried taking out the battery for a period of time, charging it, and just trying to turn it back on but it would only get as far as the Verizon logo.

Today I read through some forums and found that you can master reset w/o turning your phone on completely. I went to the Verizon store last week when it first happened and he told me if the problem persisted, I would have to do a master reset but I would need to get my information on my computer. Luckily, I did this. This morning I tried the master reset three times. The first two with the battery in, connected to the charger. It didn't help. It seemed to turn off during the master reset. I just now tried again with the battery out but still connected to the charger. It turned on. Now it is extremely slow and barely functionable. At least it's on though...hopefully I can get more out of it later. Hope this helps!

Hold down the center nav key and power up the unit. This will restore any files that may have been corrupted and put them to original. If you loaded a 3 party app or something prior to this may be the cause of the issue. Don't use that app.

damn you are a genius when it turns on it asks if you want to master reset i said no and it loaded up, im assuming if i said yes i would have been screwed because i have a flashed cricket phone.

I actually took my phone to Verizon when it wouldn't turn on and apparently this is an issue with the Q that is ongoing. The guy informed me on how to do a hardboot without having the phone on, since the hardboot is actually in the main main. You hold down the power button and the center button on the toggle for a few seconds and it should reset the phone. Just keep in mind you will lose everything you had on there before. This would be just like when you first got the phone so remember to always back up your info!

  • Anonymous Jul 31, 2009

I actually no longer have the phone due to all the issues I was having. I'm actually using the original RIM Blackberry and it works a million times better. Yes it is VERY outdated but it doesn't crash and freeze and do the retarded things that the Moto Q did. When I spoke to someone at Verizon I found out the Moto Q has SEVERAL issues and the charging issue was one of them. The master reset is actually inside the phone so it makes it impossible to actually do a master reset without having the phone on. I'll never buy another Motorola thats for sure!

I had the same problem with a replacement phone from Sprint the next day it just died on me and said that BOOT SETUP CONNECT USB or whatever..well they told me the phone was FRIED! Idk how but thats wat they said and gave me another phone. So anyone seeing that black screen with the white font that looks like an old computer screen that's the answer to your problem.

I got another phone but now it won't charge either, it doesn't have that screen but it wont charge through USB or the wall charger. I charged it all night and almost all day. I don't know what to do about this one..

Plain and simple, this battery is a joke on this thing.

It sounds silly, but make sure that you have the battery in correctly. i spent a few hours with my moto q freaking out over the same problem, but it turned out that the battery was not placed correctly in the phone.

Flashing is either an error code or the set trying to boot up--some of the Mitsubishi sets if power removed will blink for a minute and then stop--then the set can be turned on.
