It seems you don't have any codecs... The problem is not in windows media player.
Just install a codec pack like http://www.free-codecs.com/download/codec_pack_all_in_1.htm

Try load the AVI in that. If it still won't play then you have wasted your time downloading a fake file.
A good idea is to read any comments left on the torrent site you use before you download any files.

Go to google and do a search for Kazaa Codec Pack. Download and install the pack. That should take care of it, if the source files weren't encoded with the audio out of sync.
