you will need to provide the brand and model of the motherboard , it will not be e-machines. You can usually find this info printed in the motherbaord around the cpu or between the add-in card slots.

get this and ill get ya your plug-in locations..

    Regards..

Try this link to Emachines page. After you put in the make and model and stuff you should be able to view the user manual for your machine. If this isn't what you need you are able to contact support from this page and maybe they can direct you to a more detailed explanation that may help more.
eMachines use specially-made boards for them so there is no manual as such as the boards aren't made to be distributed. Basically they would all use the same sort of connectors and blocks (and cases) to an extent that anybody can plug a connector into the right place and it will work.

The easy way to get round this is to find the power button first - try each two pin connector first, press the button and see if it comes on. If not, move along on the block until you find the right one. Then it's just a case of trial-and-error on the other ones to find reset, power LED and HDD led.

Had to replace power switch on emachine computer need to know where wires go

You must check cable(small) one the (left or right) one hard drive, CD Drive, floppy disk and for motherboard (the big one) .You check the manuals, is not hard just follow where the power lines.

Need to re-attach power button cable, hard drive

The manual for your computer is available from emachines, p.168 shows the info you need (replacing the front I/O panel)
http://downloads.emachines.com/userguides/8511279_eM_NG3_chassis_HW_ref_en.pdf

The good news is that you can't harm the computer by connecting the wires wrong and the bad news is they just won't work the way they are supposed too if not connected properly. The LED's must have the correct polarity to work.
In general, if you look real close (as in magnifying glass and flash light) you will see the ID for each set of pins is printed on the motherboard (pwr, rst,HDD,pwr sw,speaker) Just match what it says on the motherboard to what it says on the wires. Don't worry if you get the polarity wrong. If a light doesn't work just swap the two wires. The colored wires should be positve (+), though. The reset (rst) and power switch (pwr sw) wires don't require polarity.
These instructions are for most computers in general, YMMV.

Power Button wire to mother board power led power sw HDD Led . what pin connects to the three wires from power button. Led Power wire to what pins, HDD Led to what pins and power SW to what pins on the...

There are may motherboards, but most have writing on them as to what is suppose to plug where. For example, for the power switch, the lettering might be "Pwr" or "Power" or "Pwr sw". The pins are usually together and should fit the plug on the end of the wire.

TRYING TO HOOK UP MU POWER BUTTON NEED TO KNOW

Hi there
The front panel connectors are mainly,
  • harddisk activity connector
  • power switch connector
  • reset switch connector
  • power LED connector
  • speakers connector
  • USB connector
Harddisk activity connector
This normally comes red in colour and is labeled as HDD-LED
Power switch connector
This comes green in colour and is labeled as POWER-SW
Reset switch connector
This usually comes grey in colour and is labeled as RST-SW
Power LED connector
This is usually green in colour and is labled as PWR-LED
Speakers connector
This speaker will give different beep sounds during boot to tell the user if there is any errors. It occupies 4 pins, however only 2 is important for the function. Be sure to connect the red coloured cable to the positive polarity and the black to the negative.

Emachines t3830 I need the schematic for MB I umployed the wire for the push bottom without looking at the way they were plug. Now I do not know the correct aligning of the push bottom wires.

If you look at the motherboard there is usually a diagram labeled "FRONT PANEL HDR" that will tell you which pins are for: HDD LED, PWR LED, RESET, PWR ON. etc.
The chart / diagram may be a few inches away from front panel header.
the following example is from my emachine T2893 that I had opened because it won't power up.

the motherboard at the header connector labels pin #2 and with that you can figure out the other
pin numbers

example of diagram on motherboard (Confirm the pin numbers on your motherboard)

J9G1 PINS
| HD LED | 1 - 3 |
| PWR LED | 2 - 4 |
| RESET | 5 - 7 |

| PWR ON | 6 - 8 |

Hope this helps you figure which pins to hook you switch up to.
