My laptop keeps saying hibernating and i cannot get to menu screen.

Definition: Hibernate is another option for powering down your laptop. When you use Hibernate all data will be saved to the hard drive in a compressed form. Once you start up from Hibernate mode you will be able to work with the applications and documents you left open before putting the laptop into Hibernate.
Hibernate is best used to conserve laptop battery power when you will be away from the laptop for more than a few minutes. You can put your laptop into Hibernate overnight or when you will be away from it for a few hours. Examples: Rather than shutting down my laptop each night, I use Hibernate to help conserve battery power and enable me to access my open files quicker in the morning.

If you are not going to use your computer for a few hours, it is a good idea to put it to sleep (also known as mode) to save power. If you are not going to use the computer for more than a day, it is usually best to turn it off.

hope it helps.... please rate if you like my post...thanks

My toshiba laptop has gone into hibernation how would i get it out of hibernation please?

To get out of hibernation on all computers with Windows....you simply have to push the power button once and the system is supposed to come out of it. If it does not, power the laptop off, remove the ac adapter power and then remove the battery. Push the power button to bleed any residual power in the capacitors. Plug in the AC adapter and power the laptop back up. It it boots, go ahead and replace the battery. You then may have an issue with hibernation on that particular computer. My advice is to go to the control panel > power options > hibernation tab and uncheck usinf hibernation. Most modern computers do not need this if they are sleeping or if you just want to shut the system down. There have been more bad registry problems with hibernation than any other thing.

I ussually put mi laptotp to a hibernating mode but now I cant get it started the message it shows says: "hibernating" and its been like this for more than 3 hours How can I solve this?

Power off the laptop, remove the ac adapter, and remove the main laptop battery. Push the power button in for approx 15 seconds. This will bleed all power from the capacitors. Now, replace the battery and attach the ac adapter. Power the computer up. When it boots, go to the control panel > Power Options > On the top of the window you will see the hibernate tab, click on it and un-check the hibernate box. Hibernation will and can destroy parts of the registry. Sleep mode is fine for most laptops....hibernation is not.

Question

Hibernation is a power management feature. When you hibernate a laptop, you're essentially turning it off. So, unlike Stand By (Sleep) mode, a hibernated laptop isn't using any battery power at all - that laptop is off!

The secret behind hibernation is that before you turn off the laptop, everything you're doing with the computer is saved. (The contents of memory are saved to the hard disk.) When the computer is turned on again, it recovers from hibernating by reloading all the saved information and restoring your laptop to exactly the same condition it was in before it was hibernated.

Briefly, hibernation works like this:

1. You activate the hibernation feature.

Hibernation is activated differently depending on how it's set up.

2. The laptop hums as everything in memory is saved to disk.

3. The laptop turns itself off.

It's really and truly off: The battery isn't being used, and it's safe to store the laptop or put it away until you need to use it again.

To recover from Hibernation mode, just turn the laptop on. In some cases, the laptop may recover from hibernation when you press a key or touch the mouse pad. hibernated state for as long as you want.

Hibernation mode requires hard drive space. So you should be aware that when hard drive space runs low, it's possible that Hibernation mode won't work.

In Windows XP, you have to activate Hibernation mode before you can use it. Follow these steps to activate Hibernation:

1. Click the Start button.

2. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.

3. Open the Power Options icon in the Control Panel.

4. In the Power Options Properties dialog box, look for and click on the Hibernation tab.

If you don't see a Hibernation tab, there's your answer: The laptop isn't capable of hibernating. Oh, well.

You might want to check the laptop's Setup program to see whether you can activate Hibernation there.

5. Select the Enable Hibernation option by clicking the check box to place a check mark in the box.

6. Review other options, if they're available.

7. Click OK to confirm the changes and close the Power Options Properties dialog box.

Optionally, close the Control Panel window, as well.

Some laptops may require you to restart Windows for this change to take effect.

Laptop HP Pavilion dv6000 I have the problem. Power button wont work. Can start PC through QuickPlay button but when I try to go to Windows, PC hibernates.

i have had this problem before, and you can take off the strip above the keyboard and check the wire didnt come unsoldered or unplugged, but in most cases, it has to be replaced. if you can turn it on, i would reccomend just starting it that way.

How to turn on toshiba satellite M300 laptop from hibernating mode

hi shirleygty, is that automatic hibernation (the computer hibernates by itself) or manual hibernation (by pressing the hibernate button)? If either applies to your case you might need to update the BIOS information for your computer to fix the power management issues on it. You can get it here. Just run the file, click install & choose Install From Windows. Make sure you don't have any BIOS password or any external devices connected to the computer. When the update completed successfully, your computer will automatically restart, then try hibernating this time (manual or automatic). I do recommend setting the hibernation to 1min. at the control panel > power options > change when to turn off the display. When it hibernates, pressing any keys or the power button should wake up the computer.

Hope this helps.
