It's very simple. Either your "W" key is stuck or the membrane under the "W" key is damaged.
This would cause your notebook to beep repeatedly at start-up.
There's a simple way to check - press the "W" key several times and see if it feels normal (normal means that it feels exactly like all the other keys). If the key feels normal, then you have probably damaged the membrane but it could also be something stuck underneath.

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barelysee the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.
Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can beany kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vgacable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves yourvideo card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you rebootwithout you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN(Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correctkey for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key willnormally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.
If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works,then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash lightand nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card isbad.

You have to create the recovery cd using the Sony Recovery Media kit creator program.
It should be in the control panel. It requires 1 DVD and 1 CD-R cd. Or 7 CD-R cds.
You can however use the recovery wizard, but it will erase the Recovery Media Kit. It also can be found by using the recovery wizard in the control panel.

well its tough to say, could be a harsh virus, or damaged registry. Try starting it up and as soon as it starts press f8 repeatedly until the safe mode menu is prompted, then from there pick a the option that best suits you, either safe mode or safe mode with networking. In just regular safe mode you can go in and remove harmful data from your hard drive. Maybe running under last know configuration might help. Let me know what happens.
