Dell latitude d600 screen goes black during boot

Laptop was dis-assembled to replace power adapter plug, now it boots fine in safe mode or diagnostics screen works fine for hours. Boot in regular mode and see the dell screen then windows xp screen and goes blue then black. I can hear it running, screen is just off. I have tried the fn F8 switch but it does nothing.

Dell latitude D830 will boot up to windows XP screen and then will freeze. reboot and comes up with gray screen. F2 during booting does nothing. What could it be?

Turn on the Laptop and as soon as you see the Dell screen click F8. Then click on Safe Mode Networking. Once you log into your account you will then go Superantispayware.com and download the portable version. Then run a complete scan. Then remove any viruses it picks up

Hi , I have Dell Latitude D600 Laptop, it is working fine but a few days ago , it gave an Error on Boot Screen "Unknown AC Adapter...." while there has been no change in Adapter , Battery or any Hardware....

The Adapter should be able to run the laptop and keep the battery charged. Take adapter to a shop and have it checked. If good then the connector where it connects to laptop is probably bad.

Dell D600 won't boot

I am sure Not the CPU or fan problem. Follow the below step to repair it.
1. Just press the power button 5 seconds or more to see the laptop can reboot or not. 2. replug the memory modules. 3. maybe the power supply device failed that the electronic volt is not enough to boot the laptop. Just replace a new Dell latitude d600 battery power supply.

Black Screen Dell 600 Laptop

Hi,
The display drivers maybe corrupt.

Boot the machine into safe mode. Right click on My Computer (XP) Computer (Vista) and select manage from the sub menu.
When the window pops up select Device Manager.
A device list will populate. When it has look down the list for Display Adapters. Click on the + icon next to Display Adapters to it expands. Right click on the display adapter and select uninstall.

Restart the computer and let it boot in normal mode.
If it boots in normal mode let it detect the Display and install the drivers for it.
I would be a good idea to update the display drivers via the Dell support website.

If it still won't display in normal mode please post back.

Good luck.

Laptop

sounds like an unhappy hard drive..can you try F8 when it starts to boot, before the logo hits the screen, that takes it to SAFE mode. try the last known good configuation option, if it is there. otherwise, safe mode

then do disk clean
defrag
and then restart.
