Works on reverse but not on auto - Staples SPL1201X (CrossCut) Shredder

If it is only running in reverse the most likely cause is a faulty switch as the switch just reverses the polarity of the power to the motor. Also check that nothing is covering the proximity sensor in the throat of the shredder.

The shredder will only constantly run in the "Reverse" mode. The trigger located in the center of the feed entry slot, which activates the shredder, may be blocked. To clear it, you would need to insert an index card or file folder (i.e. rigid paper or cardstock) in the center of the feed slot and apply force.

Jammed ativa shredder, works in reverse, won't go into auto.

Hey there i have a 1996 nissan primera 4wd auto every gears works mint as no issues its fool with gearbox oil but it wont drive in reverse what would you recommend? Would it be tge reverse sencor?

Play a tape to the end. If it reverses, it is working properly.

Make sure that you have turned the auto-reverse feature on. The switch is next to the power button.

Maybe your differential is shot and will only allow reverse spin or the transmission was not really rebuilt professionally. Was the transmission checked outside of your car after rebuild? Does your vehicle have a Powertrain Control Module (PCM)? Maybe the module went bad or faulty.

Continue to alternate between auto and reverse a number of times. Try to shred narrower pieces of paper at opposite ends to see if it can trigger the auto trigger wire. All else fails, carefully take the shredding part apart and you may find a hugh paper jam underneath.

sounds like a bad tranny. Gear shifter may be locked, have you checked the tranny fluid?

Sounds like the front auto drive clutch. Will need expert repair or replacment gearbox.
