Price Pfister Tub/Shower Diverter and Hot/Cold Stems question

My tub/shower uses a Tub/Shower compression Diverter part #: S10-385. I now need to buy the hot and cold stems. So, which is the correct part # for the hot and cold stems? 1) Is it the 910-374 ? 2) Is it the S10-375? 3) Is the S10-375 discontinued? 4) Does the 910-374 replace the S10-375, but BOTH will work? 5) Also, does the 910-381 Diverter replace the S10-385? Is the S10-385 Diverter discontinued? My local Lowes store still carries the S10-375. Can I use that part for my hot and cold stems? Please answer all 5 questions so I can understand it all. And please let me know if the 910-374 and the S10-375 are the SAME part and are interchangeable.

SOURCE: Have a shower only no tub. replaced both the hot

Take the shower head off and see if the pressure is better or the same. If it is the same then you will need too look up-stream for blockage in the water lines. If it is better then replace or clean out the holes in the shower head. It may also have a filter screen before the shower head.

It sounds like the diverter is not fully opening to allow the water to run to the spout. If the diverter is in the wall, perhaps there is a seal in there that needs replacing. If it is in the spout, just replace the spout,

The hot and cold are reversed on our single handle shower (no tub faucet -- shower only)

Hot on left.
Cold on right.
Some single handle faucets have bleed-over where both hot and cold enter mixing valve each time handle is turned on, even when faucet calls for just cold or just hot.
Otherwise maybe a do-it-yourself plumber got pipes backwards... or maybe the tub used to be on other side of wall, and tub was moved during remodeling but pipes were not changed.

To fix problem:
First of all, turn off shower faucet. Turn on Hot at sink and put ear against shower faucet listening for sound of water flowing through the mixing valve.
If mixing valve is working fine, you need to open wall and investigate more.
For example if you have access door, reach in and feel which pipe is hot.
Pipes might need to be reversed if problem comes up in home inspection, otherwise the problem will not harm anything.

I have a older Delta shower head/tub combination with scald protection. It leaks from the tub diverter. Where should I start?

I'm assuming that you have a three handle faucet. You need to remove the diverter from the faucet body and while your at it remove the hot and cold stems from the valve body (the parts are inexpensive). Remove the seats inside of the valve body towards the back, replace with new ones. If stems are in good shape, just the washers and seats need to be replaces. If the brass on the diverter or on the hot or cold stems is pitted or marred, then replace the whole thing. The parts should be readily available at most plumbing supply places.

1 HANDLE TUB/SHOWER. WHEN YOU TURN THE SHOWER ON

The diverter is worn and needs to be replaced.

The diverter is the lever/button you pull/push to switch from shower to tub. When they get worn, they require more pressure to seal properly and divert the flow.

Price Pfister Shower--No water to shower

Does the tub spout water flow stop when the shower knob is pulled?

Was the systems pipping flushed before the shower head was installed?

It may be clogged, remove the shower head and then attempt to operate. If it is clogged you will see debris trapped in the screen at its connection point. The shower head can be disassembled - cleaned - reassembled

Is the shower head an adjustable type, that may be in the off position?

Good luck

My 3 handle bathtub fauset [price pfisher] cycles hot and cold

You will need to either replace center "shower diverter"assembly or a quicker fix would be to remove old tub water fill spout and replace with a "pull up diverter knob" type water spout. Cost about 10 dollars Hdepot Pull Knob to divert water to shower when showering.

Shower/spout

The valve is installed upside down and needs to be reversed. There is a diverter in the valve that gives the spout priority. When the valve is upside down it gives the shower head priority. Thats why it runs without the diverter being activated. You will need to get in the wall from one side or the other. Cut the valve out and either flip the faucet Or change the direction of the diverter depending on the style of valve.

Good Luck, Phil
