If the part is located near a potential 'hot-spot' it may be a thermal device and possibly a thermal fuse.
Once opened, they don't self-heal.
If you describe the part, I may be able to identify it better.
OK, if everything, including the fan, is working, this will confirm Magnetron failuer. you cannot reset the function of a failed Magnetron heating unit. replace this failed device asap if possible.
Hi,
On GE models, "SENSOR ERROR" appears on the display when:
Using the sensor feature, the door was opened before steam could be detected. Do not open the door until stream is sensed and time is shown counting down on the display.
Steam was not detected in the macimum amount of time. Use Time Cook to heat for more time.

Otherwise, yes, it may have a bad humidity sensor (gas sensor, as it's called) which needs to be replaced.
You can usually find
helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full
model number here.
You should enter your model number as JEM31GA02.
There
should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit
behind the
control panel or elsewhere inside, which is
very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.
