Sony CRT Tv (KV-T29SZ8)

This tv is getting a bit long in the tooth and I have repaired a dry solder joint once before. Syptoms: Initially the picture had white lines across the top 3 inches, sort of looked 'interlaced' with the picture. Now the unit starts with a black screen with some very dim light areas at the top then switches to 'standby' mode. There is the sound of the tv program during the 5 seconds before standby. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you see white lines at the top of the screen, it means that the pump-up capacitor next to the vertical output IC is bad and the IC is about to quit. When the output finally quits, you get a black screen with possible dim spots. The vertical output IC and its pump-up cap will have to be replaced, and the little fuse resistors next to the flyback in the + and - supplies to the vertical output IC must be checked too. If you have experience working on TV's then you can do it yourself, but if not then have the set serviced by a tech experienced in Sony sets.

Tv sony stop after 20 min standby led flashes 3 times

HI,
By three blink it means the B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is because there is problem in the power supply circuit. Check for any dry soldering in the power supply side. If the tv is working properly for 20 minutes then its sure that there is some dry soldering joints in the power supply side. You have to resolder suspected soldering contacts using soldering ion and solder. The dry soldering joints will look like on in the picture.

I have a 60" 2005 sony wega tv and the picture is

It is possible that there is a fault on the CRT or in the drive circuit in the CRT section.

There is every possibility that the fault can be a dry soldering joint in the CRT section of the TV. So remove panel and make a good soldering on the CRT board, the main board and the connectors.
This must solve the fault provided that the CRT is not faulty.

If the display seems normal when present, you may have what is called a 'cold solder joint,' possibly in the area of the horizontal power supply. This can be caused by normal heating and cooling of a particular spot on the circuit board that finally fractures the solder and making the joint thermally sensitive.
Most component failures, even when intermittant, would affect the display in some obvious way such as distortion, contrast, brightness, etc.

Sony Vega Service Codes

KV-32HS510 and KV-27HS420, seven times blink error code shows problem in Horizontal deflection circuit.

There are many possibilities like dry solder joints, weak capacitors, Horizontal transistor short or flyback transformer fried etc.

If you have little experience of TV repair and good solder skills and have necessary tools to test / check defective parts, then you can make it. you also need to have related service manual to see board location, schematics and part numbers.

Sony KV-27S26 27 with sound but no picture

yes, its dry solder joint problem in Vertical Deflection Area. If you know how to repair TV, then open it and resold vertical output IC pins and surrounding parts with solder iron and solder wire.

Sony tv snow for first 5 minutes on

Probably dry solder joints in the tuner section.

When the set warms up, the faulty joint/s make contact, then lose contact again when it cools down.
