Check all inputs. Make sure they are properly connected and all of them are giving you this static. If this is the case you have a bad audio circuit in your TV. The odds are that your signal is bad though. Also try lightly slapping your TV to see if there are any bad connections. The sound should come in and out if this is the case.

I fixed the problem by taking it back to Walmart and purchasing a new unit.

you will have to access the menu-if you do not have a menu button-you can purchace a universal remote-try symphonic or funai codes

Check 3.58 MHz color oscillator,, little metal can near large ic,
Also check color output transistors or any loose connections in the output stage

You're gonna wanna cycle the video input by pressing

2. Input
3. TV/Video
4. Source

on your remote or your TV itself. Eventually you'll find it.

You have defective Vertical output IC. This parts need to replaced to back to normal.

I had to clean the sensor area for the remote on the tv somehow got something on it. I wonder how, my little 4 yr old daughter had know idea how it got there lol.
