  • rabbidrabbit Dec 02, 2007

I insert a clean, PS3 compatiable game disc into the console, and the game appears to be reading it, but the game never comes up as an option to access. It worked fine for 3 weeks, then suddenly, it started doing this. Whats' wrong?

region code ps3. Ps3 from uk, never rejected a disc before. Second dvd in a 4 disc set won't play because of region code, all others (sealed package) play. Single dvd, of same region, uk, comes up with the same error. This has happened twice in one month and never before in the ps3's life with me, tried changing region settings, no luck, cannot accept this is, region issue as it's never happened before! Moved from uk to aus 2 years ago, player plays region 4s, all DVDs are region 4, including rejected ones.

Have you ever performed a force eject from the PS3 by holding down the eject button

If you have this can cause the tack to become unaligned and thus rejects the disk

If you are under warranty that's the way to go if not a repair shop

Or is you do know your way around a PS3 bluray drive then here's how I align my drive

    1. PS3 rejects disc's - 180px-ps3-kem400aaa-9_80.jpg
    1. Drive teeth can get terribly misaligned because of worn gear teeth, you may find it easier to reassemble the drive in the loaded position.
    2. With your Blu-ray drive open, remove the platform that holds the rollers. The only one screw is circled in red. Be careful about touching the plastic bumpers circled in blue. Short instructions under "Tips", in case you do.
    3. Twist the white gear denoted with yellow clockwise until the the gear separates from the black platform on the left hand side of the drive. Practically every gear in this area moves every other gear, but the white one seems the easiest to twist. Keep twisting until the two catches circled in green are completely lowered.
    4. Realign the black platform and twist the white gear counterclockwise until the two catches are fully raised. These catches keep you from inserting a second disc. You should not have to twist the white gear fully counterclockwise and it is a good idea not to. Make sure the left black platform is not tight against anything - especially the stuff towards the bottom edge.
    5. Pull the rollers outwards as the pink arrows indicate and screw the roller platform back onto the drive. When this is done, your rollers should be slightly loose. Work with the rollers and the white gear until they were just tight enough to loosely hold a CD as though the drive were reading it.
    6. Insert a junk CD along the top half of the drive as though the drive were accepting it. Pay attention to how the junk CD locks into place as though you still cared about it.
    7. While holding the CD in its loaded position, pop the top half of the Blu-ray drive onto the bottom half. You can shake it lightly, but if it doesn't come together smoothly, something might be misaligned. Go back and tweak until it comes together with relative ease. Don't forget the white magnet.
    8. Screw everything (that you feel like) back together, boot up your PS3, and eject your junk CD. It should come out smoothly and be re-accepted smoothly.
If this has been some use to you then a rating would be great

    Thanks

What do you mean by rejecting discs? Which of the following do you mean: 1. You put a disc in and it pops back out. (You can attempt to unplug the system for a few minutes and then plug it in and see if that rectifies the issue) 2. You are unable to place a disc in. (If this is the case, make sure a disc already isn't in there by holding down the eject button.) 3. The disc goes into and stays in the PS3, but the game will not play. (is there an error message or code?) 4. Other (please explain situation).

The game got stuck inside, and It doesn't reject it. What I need to do to take it out ?

Ok please try the following to force eject your disc. Turn off the power at the back of the PS3. Press and hold the eject button. Turn the power back on at the back of the machine. The fan should start to spin very fast but your disc should also be ejected.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

80 GB PS3 doesn't accept or reject Disc

It sounds like the optic sensor went bad. If this goes bad it wont be able to tell if a disc is loaded or not. So it can't accept or reject them.

    Ps3 not registering disc's

Hi there my PS3 experienced a similar fault (40gb) & I would recomend you contact Sony PS3 Helpline as explained below.
This fault was fixed by contacting Sony Helpline directly & explaining the fault (laser/hard drive damaged). They agreed to fix this fault free of charge & honoured my warranty as I bought this system in January 2007 by faxing them proof of purchase. They arranged to collect my PS3 via courier & advised that it will be returned within approx 3 weeks along with an extended 3 month warranty. I have to say that Sony Helpline were very helpful & their customer assistance was excellent & if your PS3 does breakdown I would recomend that you contact the Helpline first to enquire if they can assist with the problem before seeking to have this fixed at a potential cost of £100.00 upwards by independant PS3 fixers.
