Hitachi Big Screen Model #53uwx10b. We had three power surges within 10 minutes and now the TV will not come on. The power button is flashing red and making a chirping sound.

on some TVs, the lights do not turn off so that is not that big of a deal. If you want to make sure, unplug the TV and then push and hold the power button for about 30 sec. Then plug the TV back in and that should fix the light if it is stuck. (Pushing the power button wile unplugged will reset the system default!)

It sounds like the TV's Convergence Circuit has failed.First, try to reset TV by unplugging TV from A/C source, for 2 to 5 minutes. Then plug TV back into outlet. Also, try the Magic Focus button on front of TV.
Still no work? To fix yourself call 1-800-458-6053 and ask for KIT 10. This will provide you with all the parts you will need. These are soldered in parts, or call an Authorized Service Center and have them give you a written estimate b4 repairs are performed. You may have CRT Coolant on one the boards. LOOK very closely for shiny spot on any of the boards. WHY? Because you are saying the TV is having multiple problems. Let me know.

Your problem is in deflection circuit (115+v) check these: FP05, DP15, Q777, QH01, TH01, T701, etc. BUT suspect C707 1k pfd, 2kv, and check all the pico fuses (brown) 2" to the right of cap. Good Luck, big IRISH.
