I'm not sure what you are asking, but maybe my experience can help you. I was using Windows 2000 (it has no DRM) and the Sansa C240 was displayed in Windows Explorer like a removable drive. I could copy and delete files in Windows Explorer. I switched to Windows XP and when I connected the C240, no files were displayed for it in Windows Explorer. I realized that XP had DRM and all the media files had to be transfered with Windows Media Player. When I opened WMP, it recognized the C240, but it didn't list any of the mp3 files I had already loaded on the C240. WMP asked if I wanted to delete all the media currently on the C240, but I clicked No. After that, WMP worked like the old files didn't exist. It would only delete files that had been copied to the C240 when it was synced.
I would recommend that you use Windows Media Player (or WinAmp) to delete all old media files on the C240 and use the sync button to copy and delete files from the C240. See Windows Media Player help for details.

You can also try putting the C240 in Mass Storage mode. See here for details:http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Ma...

Please do the following to isolate the problem:

1. Connect the MP3 player into different USB port of the computer and make sure that the computer could detect it.
2. If the computer does not detect it, use another computer.
3. Make sure that you have enough memory space in your MP3 player so that you could download songs.
4. Download songs that has .mp3 file format
5. Try different USB cable to isolate the problem.

Need help deleting songs from my Sony MP3 player

Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the manufacturer?s website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings.

Transferring music to my mp3 player

This player is only compatible with a few audio formats. The DRM protection system on most WMA's simply won't work after a time. If you only transfer songs in mp3 format, you will never have such problems.

How to delete songs

I would use Windows Explorer to delete the files that are on the player - p.11 of the manual will show you how - but be careful only to delete music files, not system files.

RCA Pearl

OK, I use i Tunes to buy music also. What I do is Load them onto a RW-CD and then transfer them over to Windows Player. You can then re-use the cd to do it again when you buy more songs. As far as adding to yoursongs, when you plug it in, it shows ho much memory is left. As long as you have some empty space, just drag songs over to the window and sync. It will not erase your songs, but add to them.

Double Songs

Your device has 2 modes, if you transfer music in one mode, it is not visible in the other.

You need to select 1 mode Settings>Mode or USB Mode>MSC or MTP.

Connect the device to your PC. Open the device under My Computer and delete all the music.

Change the mode back to the other one and keep this as your permanent setting.

You will not see duplicates anymore.

Best of Luck.

1 gb mp3 player not working

Same thing happened to me. I was using windows media player to sync my song and it says my player was using 260 mb of space even though it was formatted time after time. I simply loaded as many song as I could fit on the player. When I unplugged it and plugged it back in, windows media now showed that missing 260 mb of space as available. The only catch is that the song I had already uploaded on to the player were not shown on the sync list.
