HP USB Disk/Drive Format Utility is a Windows based software
used to format drives to FAT, FAT32 and NTFS partition types.

1. Download this tool:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4040651/HPUSBFW_2.2.3_MASTER.exe

2. Format Flash Drive

(Before removing USB flash drive click on the Safely Remove
Hardware icon and then click on USB flash drive you want to remove)

I just wanted to add, for me, it was helpful to format the partition as NTFS, enabling file compression. This seemed to give me the least hassle. Also, using quick format works just fine too.

TDK Trans-IT 8gb flash drive is unable to format. It gives an error that says this disk is write protected, please assist.

get a copy of the software from TDK itself at:

http://www.tdk-media.eu/downloads/trans_it_usb_password_pr_english.exe

it's a self contained .exe file no installation needed. This will format your flash for you if you need to and the program gets retained.

if you want a pc based format copy the software somewhere in your hard drive. in myu computer right click your flashdisk, format (fat 32 better). There clean as a whistle. copy back flashlock, then partition as you wish.

I have purchased an 8GB TDK and unfortunately when I delete the files and try to add new ones, I receive a message that there is not enough free space. I am using a Mac. What should I do!!!! Ian.

Try to format the USB flash drive Then you will clear it of al the files it has, if you don't want to lose the files, copy them into your computer, and copy them back after the formatting is complete, after formatting, I'd suggest you'd see the properties of the flash drive, to see the memory and the occupation of the memory, from time to time.

8gb TDK trans-it flash memory is invisible

Hello,

You can try this out:
After powering up your system, and you have plugged the flash drive, then Right-Click on my computer icon, select manage, then go to Disk Management Option.

On the Disk management option Page you should see ALL the drives installed on your system, including the hidden ones, so what you will just do is, try and locate the one representing your flash drive, and right click on it. then select "Change Drive letter and Paths", and give the drive any new, unique letter (i.e alphabet) different from the ones already on your system, and click on OK.

This should make your Flash Drive to be detected automatically.

Kindly keep me posted about the problem

Hope this helps you out.

Goodluck!

I have a 8GB Kingston USB and I'm trying to copy an mpeg video file about 5GB into the USB, but it's not working. The message keeps saying the disk destination is full and insert another disk. The USB is...

Hello

I know this might sound dumb, but have you tried formatting the drive?
Something else you can try is to assign a new drive letter to the drive and this is how you do it.

Control panel
administrative tools
Computer management
Storage
Disc management
Then you must see your flash drive in the bar chart at the bottom
Right click on the flash drive
Change drive letter

The other thing might be that the file is corrupt. Try this, it should resolve your problem.

Only 5GB on TDK TRANS-IT USB 2.0 Flash Drive 8GB

Not the solution you might like but there have been reports of bogus/ counterfeit smaller capacity sticks/drives relabeled and programed to report higher capacities. I've been told that running a formatting/partitioning application on them reflect the true capacity but have not had to try this solution myself..

Submitted for information only but please rate so I accumulate a lot of unanswered solutions, Thanks
