Large white X in red circle flashing

This works for most tomtoms so there is nothing to loose and everything to gain

Remove the SD card

The card needs to be formatted properly first that's all,

formatting is better done in a card reader.(opionions vary)

Right click on it and select format select FAT32 as the files system

Now connect the tomtom but don't let tomtom home run. exit TTH if need be.

You now ned to select your tom tom which will also show as a drive.

In windows explorer select tools then folder options. Click view and tick the box for "show hidden files and folders"
It may warn you but you can ignore it.

then just copy ALL the files from the tom tom to your sd card

DO NOT USE CUT AND PASTE !

Once all the files are on switch off the tom tom and insert the sd card

It should now work

My 720 will not work. I turn on get a page showing the 'breifcase' and a flashing red cross!! Pete Davis

I had this happen on mine could not turn it off without a reset. I had to send it in for a replacement under warranty. I think it was a problem with the internal memory.

Flashing X on TomTom but cant get it off on spotlight on my mac!

Make a full backup onto your computer making sure all files are shown. Do not use tt home. Make sure you have a copy of your map in your backup. Do not format. Delete everything on your tt. Connect to tt home and tt home will reinstall the navcore for your device. Copy and paste your map from your backup onto your tt. You should be set to go. A reminder you will lose all your preferances and favorites when you do this.

My tomtom 125 won't install. When it turns on, the only screen it shows is a picture of the tom tom with a red circle with a white X in it. It seems to have install in tomtom home however.

At tomtom.com I found a link to download the new version of tomtom home. For some reason when I plugged in my tomtom to my computer it wanted to download an old version of home and that would not install the applications to my tomtom. After downloading the new version of tomtom home everything worked fine.

Showing "X" and wont go to home menu

If your device only shows a cross after you turn it on, the TomTom application is not installed or cannot be found.

Changing location

How about you leave the gps in the garden so it knows where it is and shows that location on the screen. The GPS does switch off if you are indoors, and it will tell you that the reception is bad and ask if you are indoors.....
