Green light flickering!

When switched on and ready for use, the brush rotates but the green light flickers continually when actually in use!....changed the belt cleaned all accessible parts etc but the green light still flickers and struggles under load, even after changing the height settings of the roller brush!....any suggestions as to the problem as originally prior to changing the belt a burning rubber smell was noted but we have noticed no change in performance of the machine after carrying out basic maintenance!

Only use a genuine kirby belt. not copys that are sold on the web. it sounds like one of the end bearings is jammed with human hairs, remove end cap and cut out with a stanly blade

SOURCE: Roller Brush

Try a new belt. The ends of the brushroller are different sizes, so you can't put it in backwards. There are numbers and notches on the ends of the brushroll. These notches/numbers need to match on both sides when installing it. (probably need both ONES face up). Make sure that the beltlifter arrows are green on green before you install the brushroller. Once you get the brush in and the baseplate back on, turn arrows to red on red to lift the belt up before reattaching the nozzle to the Kirby. I have included a link to help with other potential problems. If you want a manual, or need any more help, contact me through the links on my guide page.

SOURCE: belts

Here is the link to the detailed instructions for belt changing. When you take the brushroll out, make sure that the brushroll spins freely. If it doesn't it will burn up your belts and needs to be replaced.

Green light kirby vacuum

The green light does not affect the performance of your vacuum. There is a small magnet in the brush roll that makes the light glow to show you the brush is spinning properly. If your light worked before you took the vacuum in for service you can look at the brush roll to see if it has been installed properly. The magnet should line up to spin at the spot where the green light is. If the brush is not installed properly or the wrong brush roll is installed the magnet will not line up with the green light.

The green light on my Kirby Ultimate G is not on but brush is spinning suction is pick stuff up. Is there a light bulb or a bigger problem?

You are referring to the green led light on the front of the machine that tells you the brush is rotating? this is operated by a small magnet on the brush roll, when rotating it generates a small current to bring the light on. Remove the brush roll and check for damage behind the green led inside the case, also check for the magnet on the brush roll, ensure it is not missing and the brush roll is in the correct way round, magnet needs to be at green led end (ie to the left)
Magnet is fitted flush within the brush roll close one end and is around 6mm 1/4" diameter.
Green light not working will not affect the machine in any way.

GREEN LIGHT AND MOTOR

The green light is an indicator that your brush is rolling smoothly. If it starts to flicker and you smell something that smells like rubber burning you need to do a couple things; one is remove the roller and clean off all of the hair, string, etc. Next you want to replace your belt. Just because the roller isn't turning doesn't mean the motor and the belt aren't either. If your roller gets jammed your belt will continue to spin and it will eventually wear down in one spot and break. Replace the belt, clean the roller and your should be fine.

I put brand new T8 light bulbs in a fixture but the lights are still flickering is it the ballast.

Are they actually flickering on and off?- or just sort of Twirling patterns of lighter and darker shade of light? -- That is normal when the bulbs are new-- That should become steady in a few days.

If not-- tell us more what is happening-- in detail.

Green light on power nozzle of Kirby vacuum, Model G7D

The green light is just to inform you that the brushroll is spinning. there is a magnet on the brushroll that makes the green light come on every time it rotates. also why it looks like the light flickers because the magnet only makes contact once per rotation of your brushroll. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Kirby g4 vaccum

please clarify what you mean?
Do you mean motor bearings or brush roll bearings?
brush roll bearings can be adjusted to lower the brush closer to the carpet when worn.
to do this remove the front brush assembly, there is usually a sticker below the belt hole showing RED = POSITION 1 HIGHEST (ie a new brush roll)
GREEN = POSITION 2 MIDDLE (brush part worn)
BLACK = POSITION 3 LOWEST (brush fully worn)
At each side of this there are 2 clips unlock these and remove the bottom cover.
Release the belt tension by rotating the belt release at the front.
Before removing the brush roll, at each end of the brush roll there is a grey plastic bearing carrier (Square at the ends) MARK this with a pen or marker just so you know the original position, also look closely for the coloured markings as indicated above or numbering 1,2 or 3.
If RED or "1" is showing you need to remove the brush roll by pulling it out and rotate the endcaps to Green or "2" and re-insert the brush roll, If Green or "2" is showing then rotate the endcaps to Black or "3" and re-insert.
If Black or "3" is showing then the brush roll is worn and cannot be adjusted any more, fit a new brush roll and insert with RED or "1" showing.
To re-attach the belt, move the belt to the middle of the roll and rotate the belt knob at the front ensuring the belt engages with the hook on the inside.

I have a Hoover Windtunnel 2 upright vvacum cleaner. During regular use my wife turned it on and it staarted cleaning, then all of a sudden it stopped and then started again then stopped for good. I...

It sounds to me like the power cord has a short. To test your power cord you need a multimeter. Test continuity threw the power cord, from the male plug prongs, to the wiring inside the vacuum. You should get continuity from one prong on the male plug to only one wire on the other end of the power cord. If you test one prong but get a readying on 2 wires, then it is crossed. If you dont get any continuity on one or more of the wires, you have a short. A common place for a short in the cord is the male plug, you can find a replacement male plug at a hardware store and cut off the old one. When wiring the male plug, black wire goes to the gold post, white wire goes to silver, and green wire goes to the green post.

If your carbon brushes on the motor are warn, then that could cause the motor to stop, but other parts of the vacuum should still work so I dont think it is that.

Hope this helps.
