OK, How much do you think this would cost? My TV has guideplus so I would love to keep it. But not if it is going to cost as much as buying a new one. Any ideas. You know the noise is really more like whining. Would that be the same as buzzing? Thanks alot Darlene Mitchell.OK, How much do you think this would cost? The F27669 uses the CTC203 series chassis. The most common cause of that symptom is a shorted horizontal output transistor, caused by a cracked solder joint on a small coil connected to that transistor's base. When this happens, the main B+ supply is shorted to ground so the power supply squeels. Every once in a while I also see the horizontal output transistor shorted due to a shorted flyback (high voltage) transformer. A good tech will replace the horizontal output transistor, resolder the coil and drive transformer, test the flyback (replacing it if necessary) and your set will be back to perfect.
If that set came into my shop and it only needed resoldering and a new transistor, I would charge $75, and if it needed a new flyback as well it would be about $100. Shops in your area will vary so be sure to ask around. Buzzing, squeeling, whining... yes, they are all the same.If that set came into my shop and it only needed resoldering and a new transistor, I would charge $75, and if it needed a new flyback as well it would be about $100. Most likely the problem is in the high voltage section if you are hearing a buzzing noise. There is not much you can do. This is a dangerous circuit to work with. Have a repair shop check it for you. Thanks
I have two RCA HD52W59 TV's. I have had one for 3 years and one 4 years. The one I have had for 4 years is giving me the problem. Last week the tv turned off while watching it. It wouldnt come right back on. 10 minutes later we tried and it worked fine. the other night the kids were watching and it turned off and smelled like something burning. I tried turning it right back on and got no power at all. I tried to turn it on two days later and it made a buzzing noise and the green light went out. Never did get a picture, no powering up on the screen. Any ideas? Don't want to spend alot of money. Really loved the TV hope it isnt junk now. Better yet I hope the same thing doesnt happen to the other one I have.
The tv has a shorted component and that is why is making the noise, call a qualified technician to find it and dont try to use it anymore. Is not a fuse.
